Part III -- Add multimedia files to TVersity Library
On this page we will look at sharing your media on your computer so you can share it directly to your Xbox 360 console. Again in this section, if you need to click any images to enlarge them and view the full uncropped screenshot, then do so.
The best way to share your multimedia is to store all your multimedia in specific folders on your hard drive and add folders instead of individual files to the library. To add a folder, click the green + symbol and then click Add Folder (if a box does not appear after this, do it again).
Add Folder to TVersity
To browse for a folder on your Hard Drive, click the Browse button. When you select a folder, you will be able to fill in a custom title for TVersity (although this is not completely necessary as the Xbox 360 will read the folder names properly). You can also add some tags if you wish. Search For: allows you to select if you want to search for Audio, Photo or Video content, or all. Once you have selected your folder and filled in anything else you wanted to, just click Submit and TVersity will begin working.
Please note that when TVersity is adding content you can see a small spinning symbol in the top right hand of the program. While you can see this symbol, it means the server is working and when it is gone, the adding will be complete.
Shared List
TVersity will keep a list of your shared directories on your Hard Drive. You will notice that when Home Media is selected you can see your local files, whereas there are a bunch of other options including Audio URL, Video URL etc. These are for Internet feeds which we will take a look at adding right now.
Adding Internet Video Feeds to Library
TVersity supports adding URLs for various streaming protocols you will encounter online, such as MMS:// links. Adding these links is as easy as adding Folders. Click the Green + button, go to Add Internet Media --> Add Video URL (or whatever option). Paste in the Video URL and make sure to give it a Title as this is what will be displayed on the Xbox 360 console itself.
Once you are done, click the Submit button. Remember that the quality of Internet media will vary very widely considering that it will most likely need to be transcoded while it is being streamed to the console.
Sharing Done!
That is all the preparation work done now. All that is left to do now is to test whether this works out or not.
Please go to the Next Page
On the next page, we will test out the sharing with the Xbox 360 console, both streaming multimedia content directly to the Xbox Dashboard and also playing multimedia files while playing games.
