Buy a thong, fight the RIAA?

4 November 2007 19:34 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 16 comments

Buy a thong, fight the RIAA? As we have reported here at AfterDawn, last month Jammie Thomas, the first person to ever go to trial over unauthorized file sharing lost her case and now owes the entertainment industry a $200,000 USD settlement.

We also reported that she has decided to pay the the full settlement herself and it seems she has been doing anything possible to raise the money.

It seems Jammie has launched a new store here in which she sells coffee mugs, t-shirts, baby bibs, and even women's thongs all stamped with a "Free Jammie" logo created by her supporters.

As the store says, "Free Jammie Merchandise Store is a store that sells products with the Free Jammie logo to get the word out about freejammie.com."

Buy a thong and fight the RIAA.

How is buying sh*t and her paying the RIAA going to help fight them??? I think we can look at the old 60's hippies and take their advise.. Dont pay, go to jail and prove to them they will not get a dime from your pocket.. That would seem more like fighting than paying them 200,000 bucks...that obviously she doesnt have... or Sell shirts and items with the logo "I got F*cked by the RIAA" lol...

was thinking the same thing myself, pay her for a thong so she can pay the riaa, i might as well just send them a check marked towards jammies settlement.

at least she tried. she really needed to get a better lawyer though.

ill look and see if there is anything worth buying. the riaa fked her over, and she doesnt deserve to pay it all herself.

The legal system is all screwed up (like you didn't know)! Some dude that was a member of a warez release group just got sentenced, this guy was responsible for putting out cracked software and such. This guy, who was the source of millions of copies of pirated software, was fined $5,000 and a year in jail! This lady was convicted of sharing 20ish songs and fined almost a quarter million!!?? How does that make sense??

The RIAA is brain dead! You wanna see the proof?

    http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZthe_plastic_factory

A pirate is selling BOOTLEG Grateful Dead CDs for $100-$150 USDs each. He is currently listing a half dozen ILLEGAL releases on EBAY right now. This is a constant problem and those idiots go after low quality MP-3s and file sharing programs.

Even those legitimate Dick's Picks releases are priced at 2 1/2 times over retail prices...

If she had been selling thongs and tee shirts BEFORE she lost the court battle, maybe she could have afforded better representation.

Free Jammie from the 200,000 debt, not from jail... She is a victim here of the abuse of the RIAA. She dled a few songs, I think that what they charged her for was overkill.. Imagine if you were in her shoes, wouldnt you want support from the community?

Exactly my thoughts! We need to show that we support the fight against the RIAA! Jammie had the guts to stand up against a much bigger opponent just on principal. She lost a battle that could have any one of us against the RIAA. We need to support her efforts! WAY TO GO JAMMIE!

Turning a negative into a positive well done. Thongs are they way to go use them as sling shots to fire back at the riaa. :)
