burn in and power usage is still fresh in people's minds.. and now it will come to price. I think the days of $5000 for a tv is over.

Ya I'm getting a Sharp 42" LCD(D64 series) on boxing day hopefully under $1500 as that is what it's on sale for now. Or even the 46" if it drops low enough(even though it's the same, it only has 1 HDMI, where as the 42" has 3?). I've looked at plasmas, and i like them a lot more then LCDs since they have a deeper picture, but they just have too many costly problems right now. I just wish that the bigger ones weren't so expensive, although they have gotten cheaper from last year anyways.

I think it's great the prices on television sets are finally really dropping. Even though, I don't think I would ever go flat panel. I prefer the picture on DLP's more than either LCD or plasma. I also like the fact that DLP televisions are immune to burn-in and use much less energy than other technologies.

Sharp 46" D-series is the best deal PERIOD on the best tv. 1700 bucks for a 46" with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. That's unheard of. I'm still waiting until next year (January) because the recent 30% drop may turn into a 50% or more when crunch time comes and the NTSC standard changes.
