European Xbox 360s to see price cut?

Although it is not officially confirmed yet, industry sources have indicated that there are upcoming price cuts coming for all Microsoft Xbox 360 models in Europe.

The rumors suggest that there are "non-disclosure agreements in place with leading retailers" preventing them to reveal the upcoming price drop but that it is coming a week or so ahead of the Easter sales period. The expected price drop is EUR 50 for each available model.

Interestingly, the latest cuts will drop the price of the Arcade Xbox 360 model to a price cheaper than the rival Nintendo Wii. The Wii has dominated the "casual gamer" and family markets since its launch but Microsoft has said they hope to have the Arcade model steal some of the Wii's thunder. A price drop of this magnitude would certainly put some pressure on Nintendo.

�50 off? That's �38. So I guess that might mean we'll be seeing the UK models @ around �150 for the arcade, �190 for the premium and �240 for the elite. They're getting closer to tempting me (I saw my pal's XBox 360 on his new 1080p LCD and was impressed) but not without the 65nm CPU and GPU. But I'm not really that bothered about (anybodies) games consoles anyways so I can wait. By the time the cooler & more energy efficient 65nm units arrive they'll have dropped their prices even more and I'll also have a stack of cheap games knocking about to pick from. [ + quote]

Dude starting flame wars is childish. I hate flame wars, because of the crazy amounts of fanboyism and the lack of intellectual facts to support ones arguments. Why can't we all respect each others console and stop it with the bashing. NEVER start flaming. [ + quote]

Oh, believe me rainofire I am the furthest thing from Childish. You are right that it was a Childish post, but I posted something that I knew would come at the expense of people seeing me as immature or Childish. That was a price I was willing to pay to make a statement. As soon as any flaming started, my plan was to make the post I am making now... Hopefully before a Moderator kicked my butt for being so Childish to start with. To tell the truth I am 100% sure that it would have happened here anyway. Doesn't every thread end up being 360 vs PS3, HD-DVD vs Blu-ray, Plasma vs LCD etc. etc. I am so tired of these threads being ruined over Childish banter. My thoughts were that at the sacrifice of risking a flame war, just maybe there is some hope that I can make a point here. I have attempted to have many mature conversations on the PS3 threads only to have to battle with Kids trying to talk among Men about how right they are that everything they own is the best in the World, which usually has nothing to do with the topic being discussed. I don't think I have ever posted on a Xbox 360 thread (this is my first), yet I have lost count of how many 360 fan boys I have dealt with on PS3 threads. I can guarantee you that many Xbox 360 fan boys will read my previous post and get hot under the collar about it. What for?? It's just a game console. If you love it so much then you should be happy enough that you are fortunate enough to have one. Remember, there are many people in this World that can barely afford food, clothing and shelter, yet here people seem to argue over something as trivial as a game console. My post simply attempted to illustrate how sensitive people are on this forum about little things. I believe that I have achieved my purpose. I have found a handful of people here at Afterdawn who like myself can share an open view even if it is different to what they or I believe in. Those are the type of people who I also have as friends in the real World. We can all learn something from each other and we all have something unique to offer. The World needs more positivity and friendship. Moderators, please excuse me for such an off topic post. I didn't mean it to sound like a personal development seminar but I feel quite passionate about this. I really would like to see more respect, courtesy and in general a more welcoming attitude towards differences of opinion. After all, if we were all the same, how boring would the World be? Tell me now who is going to buy an XBoX 360 ? NO ONE because no one wants to buy a console and a blu-ray player. People will have to buy a ps3. HD-DVD ( which is the best format ) is dead because of microsoft not including an internal HD DVD drive with the elite. [ + quote]

Why not a price cut in the US? I don't mind a cheaper 2nd X360 in the basement... anyhow, even with $50 price for the hd-dvd add on, i'm still gonna pass it ($19 after some rebate). One AO is good enough for me. [ + quote]

I have both a 360 & PS3. They are both good and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. In 1080P they produce great images even when upscaled and both sound the dogz. Everybody needs to vent steam some time but having fanboy arguments is a negative waste of energy. Lets all group hug instead....err...actualy...umm... --The Wii is so Gamecube 1.5-- ;P [ + quote]
