Guitar Hero coming to the DS

Activision has announced that it will be releasing the blockbuster hit game "Guitar Hero" on the world's most popular handheld, the Nintendo DS.

The new game, "Guitar Hero: On Tour" will include a plug-in accessory (pictured later) and a mock guitar-pick that will allow gamers to strum on the bottom screen.

There was no price point set yet, but Activision says the game will hit retailers in June or July. The average Nintendo DS game costs $30 USD but gamers can expect GH: OT to cost around $50 because of the peripheral.

The blockbuster franchise has made over $1 billion USD since its launch in 2005 and the DS is the best selling gaming hardware for the last few years. The combo could be lethal.

This thing looks ridiculous! Certain games just aren't meant to be ported or made for hand helds. How exactly are you supposed to hit the buttons, strum the bottom screen and watch what the **** your doing on the top screen?!! [ + quote]

All I can say is "wow..." Personally, I don't like Guitar Hero. To me, it just seems like a guitar player wannabe game for those that would rather feel like they're playing just by hitting 5 buttons and strumming a wheel instead of actually trying to learn to play for real. Also, I'm surprised I haven't seen anything about that Gibson/Activision Guitar Hero patent lawsuit on here. [ + quote]

hey the speakers are not even loud enough to hear it like i mean u need headphones or some external speakers hooked up to it cuz u cant hear shit from that DS and hows the wammy bar work??--looks awkward to hold aswell while looking at the screen---i think this ones a flop [ + quote]

I was more or less meaning the fact that the lawsuit is even in existence. Personally, they patent could be applied to quite a bit more. It's pretty sad so see them (Gibson) trying to sue a bunch of people like that. They make good guitars but I don't see why they can't just let video gamers play their little Guitar Hero game. The Guitar hero ds game, that layout looks stupid for one thing... but who knows it might play well.. although I don't really have big hopes for it going anywhere... nor do I intend to waste my hard earn cash on it. ok there are good ideas and there are bad ideas, these companys need to learn how to tell the difference and stop spewing out games on impulse. exactly who is this targeted toward? im guessing 9 and 10 year olds that want to be like there older brother. wow why would you want to even try and use the stylist for this?
