Yes, but there are a lot of people with quite an extensive HD-DVD collection. This way they could continue to grow their HD library (through Blu-ray) and still be able to play titles from their HD-DVD collection.

Man Shuttle arnt they the ones that made a pc the size of a

Yea, this is not bad at all, but if its still like the size of the gamecube id be worried about the heat this thing would put off.

Thats awesome! Even if you never use your HD-DVD library.. you can still read data off an HD-DVD and use it however you want! It is unfortunate that it came out after the end of the war... but its a positive step for those that chose HD-DVD and now dont feel like investing in a Blu-Ray drive. Some may call this a "nitch within a nitch" but its still very versitile and could be used to do so much.

As far as i'm aware the LG drive did not come out after the war ended - they have always developed dual format products and say they will continue to make HD-DVD compatible features in any future blu-ray drives/players/recorders.
I don't see why anyone needs to pay over £ 1,700 for an athlon x2 PC when you can buy the LG drive separately like I did for less than $ 250.Operates perfectly on my quad core e6600 PC- smooth as silk and I only paid $ 1200 for that PC with 2 GB memory and nvidia GT 9600 graphics card.
Oh it's a blu-ray/dvd/cd burner as well by the way ( the LG drive the article talks about )

First of all it is $1700/= and not £ 1700/=, that is a 2x difference. Secondly the cube form PCs are always more expensive for their special features like being able to play a radio (with backlit digital lcd tuner) or dvd WITHOUT switching on the pc itself. Please do go to a retailer who has them on display & check out the difference. These are very well designed and DO NOT have any overheating problems.

I’m waiting till a PC comes out with a blu-ray and/or hd-dvd burner till I buy a new computer. Haven’t seen any already built on the market. Guarantee it’s going to be expensive as hell when they start manufacturing to consumers. But then again, what 'new' technology hasn't come out that is ridiculously priced for the first year or two.
