Pirate Bay hits 12 million peers

26 April 2008 16:12 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 13 comments

Pirate Bay hits 12 million peers The infamous torrent tracker The Pirate Bay has hit another milestone, 12 million peers. Making the announcement more impressive, is that only 5 months ago the site was at 8.5 million peers served.

More intriguing, from a torrent standpoint, is that TPB admin brokep says that since 2004 that amount of actual seeders on the site has increased substantially compared to hit-and-run leechers. He continues on that in 2004 only 20 percent of peers were seeding but that that number has increased to almost 50 percent, a huge number for a public torrent tracker.

Brokep added, “We have more seeders than leechers now. It was like 25% seeders 75% leechers [in 2004/2005], since then it’s gradually shifted over to 50/50.″

As if 12 million peers wasn't enough, brokep and the rest of TPB staff want a new milestone, and soon. “What we want you to do is to spread the word to your friends and make more people share files! Let’s break 15 million - and 20!”

With all the free advertising (being in the news limelight) they are getting recently, it's no wonder.

I like the piratebay's motto, you really can tell they just don't give a bleep about anything but sharing sharing sharing! Awesome site by the way.

We love the bay.. home of the virus, the trojan, and the films that are not what they say they are..
Life would be much less fun without them.

I have never had a problem with the Bay. Most of the time I get my stuff off IRC though as its usually faster. :P

TPB is pretty dam good, as said above read the comments first. And contrary to what most evil villains say(LOL) there are independant artists who share their music with anyone with an internet connection.
    Heres one for you *removed*

Ok what does that exactly mean? Demonoid is a private tracker isn't it? And it has been down for a long time aside from the closed invites before that. What's so friendly about it?

Demonoid torrents are not loaded with trojans or malware vs TPB

If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck!

TPB is not the best torrent site out there. I consider it to be ranked third with Demonoid and ISOHunt being #1 and #2. The reason we love them is because they are so outspoken and give the RIAA and other like them a hard time and have a good time while doing it.

Isohunt is now loaded with baited traps by the riaa and the mpaa

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that. Well, I guess that makes Demonoid no. 1

If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean I'm crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?
