Zune HD artwork leaked

11 April 2009 18:13 by James "Dela" Delahunty | 6 comments

Zune HD artwork leaked Engadget has published leaked artwork for Microsoft's next generation Zune media player. Speculation that Microsoft was going to add a new portable media player (PMP) to its line-up began arose only weeks ago. The leaked artwork shows the gadget possessing a large widescreen display, housed in a bushed aluminum enclosure and glass. The artwork also displays the title of the model as Zune HD.

The "HD" part of the name might imply that the widescreen is capable of playing higher resolution videos than rivals PMPs, or like the Samsung OmniaHD mobile phone, may be just there to generate marketing buzz. Microsoft's next Zune was expected to attack Apple's iPod Touch. It will be the first touchscreen Zune, and the leaked artwork shows that, like the iPod Touch, it has just one single button on the front below the screen.

The Zune HD is expected to be smaller than the iPod Touch, but not thinner, and is expected to offer models with very similar capacity.

I looked up a comparison and it seems that the Zune is more powerful hardware wise to the iPod and to think it's Microsoft, software is probably more advanced too.

Maybe this will be more popular. Here in the UK, hardly anyone know what a Zune is.

I'm the farthest thing from a fanboy.
I hate certain things about Apple and Microsoft.

And I agree it is closed minded to dislike something without giving it a proper chance. However, it will take a lot for them to win me back. As I feel I wasted my money buying the original Zune.

I agree with veyron about disliking certain things from both Apple and Microsoft, but i also agree with Krazy Karl about being a free thinker.

Unless they put some kind of open OS on it it will just be another Ipod wannabe which means it will fail.
