its no surprise as the 360 is coming on for 2 years old the ps2 is only £70 in many shops, no one actually wants the HDCP headaches or crappy 50hz via sdtv's with the of the ps3 and the wii, well what can you say, sony fud would say last gen craze of the moment, but arn't games supposed to be fun?

Wow that's pretty bad, the PS3 only sold "82,000 units." If that doesn't look like a failure I don't know what does. I mean the 360 is still selling in the 100 thousands. I don't think Sony would've ever seend this coming. Sony better drop their price and drop it soon because sales are declining as the days go by.

I just think it is funny... Who the hell even buys a GBA any more? Sony had better feel embarrased they only sold 2000 more than that.

Read it again, $ony actually sold 2000 LESS PS3's than the Gameboy, they were OUTSOLD by the Gameboy... But this makes you even more right, $ony should be even more embarrassed by this... Considering the GBA is almost six years old it's fookin hilarious. :D

Don't forget that the PS2 sold more than the 360 and that is pretty disgusting... Whatever Sony is lacking in the PS3 department, they are way making up for in their previous gens department. This report kind of makes me sad :(

I asked, and Afterdawn.com was there.
I sought after a forum sight to end all forum sights and Afterdawn.com found me.
I knocked on the internet's door, and Afterdawn.com invited me in.

Don't forget that just because the PS2 outsold the XBox360 in raw units, that doesn't mean they've made more profit. The PS2s are selling for at least half of the 360, and even more in some cases. Sony can't keep the PS2 around forever and its already been out for quite some time... successful though it is, they're failing as a hardware company. The numbers prove that. On the other hand, I do think its absolutely delicious that the GBA outsold the PS3 by 2000 units. Sure one is a console and one is a hand-held... but come ON! :)

But the PS2 makes a profit for every unit sold, M$ sell the 360 for a loss and try to recoup with software sales.
But this does show that price is a large factor in this war, with all the cheap systems still selling way more than the others, even if they are last-gen.
Also, what ever happened to the XBOX1? when the 360 was released did they just evaporate?

they cant simply pull the ps2 's because of the bad decision by sony to remove the b/c chip from the euro ps3's, and then charge them more for the privilege of less functionality and hardware! The ps2 and bravia screens are the ONLY thing keeping sony alive atm

I highly doubt that any compay sells a console at a profit. They make thier money back by having games and/or other accessories sold along with it. Its called Cross Merchandise Marketing. Thats why you don't see a PS2 or Wii 50 feet from the games and extra controllers, etc. They're right beside each other because it makes sense, yes, but also because people are more likely to buy other things if they are right there.
The promotion on TV, news, media, etc is fairly light in contrast to the promotion of the games for whichever console is being shown. Sure, the PS3/Wii/Xbox360 had thier commercials... but where are they now to drive them? Its all about the games and such now. Once they've established that the console is coming out and people have heard of it AND garnered enough hype, then they flood the TV with marketing for the games that run on the units.

the one thing that amazes me is that 9 out of 10 people who i have talked to, want a PS3 because the possibility of putting a PC OS on it. that is a good idea, but why? I bought a PC 4 months ago that actually costs less than a PS3, and it is upgradeable. not to mention, it smokes the PS3 out of the box. in my opinion, putting an OS on a PS3 is like trying to watch TV on your computer. sure it is neat to be able to do, but why would you want to when you already have a TV, and it does what it is supposed to do.

My justification for having a TV on my computer is that it provides me with a guide and the ability to record hours upon hours of TV without paying for digital cable and a DVR. This saves me SOOOO much money a month, you probably wouldn't believe it!

I would be more than happy to contribute to Nintendo's numbers if I could only find a Wii...
Nintendo seems to have always had the upper hand when it came to the portable systems. Well, with the exception of the Virtua Boy. Be honest now, how many of you jammed on 2 player Tetris on the original Game Boy?
