i just don loaded the new version: Winamp Full v5.50 Build 1640 (10th Anniversary Edition), and it got the CD info without crashing.

Still the best, most useful all round media player, despite such a credible challenge from Quintessential. Winamp just goes on quietly getting better and even more solid. Lovely flexible intuitive interface, plug-ins for just about any format out there, peerless streaming radio, and still, I think, the best library and playlist integration around.

Unfortunately, you MUST update it if you want to continue using it as several severe security flaws have been discovered in the last year and some are actively being exploited by hackers. It's good software. I don't like all the extra junk that's included but at least they offer you the option to not install anything you don't want, which is quite considerate.
