Changes from v2.3a -> v2.4

  • New localizations and new icons are featured, drag and drop on Windows benefits of an information panel which follows the mouse, and clipboard was made more powerful and flexible, optionally allowing multiple cut/copy operations to be stored in the clipboard.
  • UI items, like comboboxes, were redesigned to be customizable in height to better fit different font sizes and resolutions, that will make the application more readable expecially on Debian/Ubuntu systems and on Windows with screen set at 120 DPI.
  • Linux installable packages are now built to place files in a more ortodox way, in /usr/share/, consequently if handling ACE archives is desired it needs new PeaZip UNACE plugin package to be downloaded and installed (update not needed for Windows users and for portable versions).

Changes from v2.2 -> v2.3a

  • Archiving:
  • Added support for UDF, XAR, and DMG/HFS file types, improved support for OpenOffice file types - total 79 file extensions supported

  • Open executables/files/folders (in Windows) are now lauched in a separate processes rather than through shellexecute method (unless necessary) in order to increase parallelism and avoid possible stalls while waiting slow resources
  • Fixed configuration/bookmarks/rnd issues related to lack of write access for unprivileged users (Windows and Linux installable packages)
  • Improved file/archive browser's keyboard shorcuts:
  • Backspace mapped to browse previous path
  • More functional keys are now supported

Translations now available are English and Italian, hopefully more will come with the help of the community: you can mail me localized language file to be included in future updates, see "Translations" chapter in documentation (or ask on the forum) if you are willing to contribute your translation. User experience was also improved, adding bookmarks, making the address bar editable, improving PeaLauncher, introducing the new NuoveXT theme and many other fixes and improvements. Under the hood, crypto libraries in use were updated, p7zip 4.48 is now supported on Linux, UPX was updated to 3.03 and it was added support for the highly efficient BALZ compression format, to a total of 72 file extensions supported by PeaZip 2.2.

Changes from v2.0 -> v2.1

  • Added support for LZMA archives; currently supported formats: 71 extensions grouped in 43 families;
  • Improved support for large archives: if browsing takes too much time/memory (customisable amount), it stops allowing the user to narrow the selection using in-archive search and filter functions;

  • Updated W.E. library with util_2008-03-30 package
  • Updated 7z backend to 4.58

  • (Windows) Extraction by drag and drop from application to system (requires Address bar to be let enabled in file explorer); this custom drag and drop function doesn't need to copy files to temp folder on drag to system operations
  • Archive browser interface transformed in general purpose file manager (navigate in archive and in filesystem) interface
  • File tools menu featured in file browser interface
  • Robust file/folder copy through system's robocopy (Vista and 2008 Server, xcopy on previous systems back to Windows 2000)
  • Startup interface can be chosen in Settings (file/archive browser, archive creation main control panel)
  • Archive browser autoswitches to flat view mode (7z supported types) if needed.
  • Allows use of keyfiles for all formats supporting encryption: prepend to password the SHA256 hash of the keyfile (no size limit) encoded in Base64 (RFC 4648)
  • note: archives encrypted with keyfile can be extracted, providing the keyfile, by PeaZip or any application using the same convention, or simply entering the hash as part of the password.
