AutoGK (Auto Gordian Knot) is powerful and very easy to use tool for making DVD rips. It was designed for people who know very little about video conversion. It includes everything you need to rip DVD to DivX/Xvid in very easy-to-use interface.

Creating perfect DivX/XviD with AC3 or VBR-MP3 soundtracks is extremely easy, since AutoGK is able to calculate the maxium bitrate that can be used for video to still fit in on the selected CD/DVD size.

I normally use DVD Fab Platinum to convert my movies to .avi. Several people said Auto GK was "good" so I tried it. It took about the same time as DVD Fab to copy/convert my movie. The video quality was decent. But the audio was not sync'd to the video. The software doesn't show the progress of the conversion, and the instructions for starting the software are not as clear as DVD Fab. ImTOO DVD Ripper had the same sync problem, but the latest update seems to have fixed that. I think I'll pass on AutoGK.

After all the software I have tried, paid for etc.....and problems I ran into converting ripped movie/video files to avi with xvid codec with the high dollar crap on the market,AutoGK is by far the best there is to use. I have converted over 1000 movies with virtually no problems. Most problems occur in the ripping process. Dont know what I would do without it. It is very easy to use, jsut stick with the defaults and let er go.

AutoGK v2.40 I use this all the time. I have at least 400+ AVI movies on my 1TB usb hard drive. I would recommend this to anyone.

EASY, i usually run it @ night while i sleep, and it actually lets me tweak the files size so i can fit an entire tv season onto a DVD5. all in all i give it a 10 out of 10.

Isn't it funny how older programs work better than the new stuff? I searched, tried, and searched again for something that would make this easy. I'm not very informed about video codecs and compression, bit rates and all that stuff. AutoGK works great. I don't know what I'd do without it. It uses the Xvid codec which I think is best for encoding movies. In other programs that will encode with Xvid, you have to set the encode options manually. This is what I find difficult to get the same output I get from AutoGK, because it does the settings in the background and you don't have to touch it. For the novice, this is the best program around, even if it is a few years old. It works! Even on XP.

How the hell is it easy to use exactly? First off half way through my video it splits into two screens, and then it delays the audio so it's out of synch. Nothing seems to be explained in the guide on how to make it just rip your DVD normally.

Auto Gordian knot is not, I repeat, not a ripping program. It is a tool for converting IFOs to MPEG4 (DivX or XviD) after they have been ripped.

Very nice. I have used and struggled with so many other programs. Most of them do what you want some of the time. The better ones, most of the time. None of them work all of the time. I have thrown a vast array of video files at AutoGK and it has done what I wanted with every one. The only thinkg I would like to see is the ability to select the target video bit-rate, rather than the target size or quality. I want to stream my video over my WiFi b, and that can take a couple of attempts to hit a suitable bitrate.

I have tried every "Turn it into an .avi" program I've come across, even bought a couple, and this one, BY FAR, takes the cake!! Use it in conjunction with DvD Decrypter and you can't go wrong.

Very slow encoding, but an excellent end product and extreme ease of use makes this a must have if you want movies in say divx or xvid for hard drive storage.

Very easy to use; (I am a digital moron) it provides excellent quality dvd to Xvid/DivX conversion. It's quite slow thouogh.

I agree with tjonespc - this has to be the easiest program of its kind available. I tried so many other programs to convert DVDs to AVI format and I could NOT figure them out or they wouldn't convert the DVDs for whatever reason. AutoGK has worked on every DVD without exception - Never had one problem and so easy to use! Here is a link to the user guide for AutoGK. Don't know what that last reviewer was smoking. AutoGK has to be the easiest program of its kind I have ever used. Just use DVD-Decrypter in IFO-mode (checking Include PGC Number & Include Angle Number - under SEttings)), just like the guide tells you to, and easy as pie. Yummy pie. Works great, VERY easy to use, love it.

Downloaded this about a month ago and still cannot use as it is so complicated. Tried and tried. But no success as of yet. dvd shrink i can use but it always causes the film to freeze towards the end. But this i cant even use yet. I have read and read the guides but it is just so complicated.
