C4eva's BurnerMAX Payload Tool allows burning maximum capacity DVD+R DL discs with compatible DVD writers.
The tool was created to help with the full backup of Xbox 360 games, but it cannot copy games by itself. It is not a game copying tool. Instead, the tool makes it possible to write more than 8,547,991,552 bytes onto a DVD+R DL disc by delivering a realtime payload to the DVD writer.
If the writer has a compatible MTK chipset, then burning software will be able to write up to 8,738,897,920 bytes, the absolute maximum allowed by dual-layer DVD media.
It is highly recommended that compatible Lite-ON drives are used, as they have more advanced burning options available to them. Additionally, the quality of the blank DVD media matters, as burning the extra capacity to the disc pushes it beyond its intended limit. Data will be written further out to the edge of the disc, where the dye is more inconsistent.
Verbatim DVD+R DL media, made in Singapore, is recommended for the best quality results, but there are no guarantees.
This tool doesn't have to be used solely for backing up games, you can write the extra capacity with any type of data you would typically burn to a DVD.
Insert the blank media first, then launch the Burner MAX Payload Tool. Blick "BurnerMAX" and after several seconds, a message saying "BurnerMAX IS enabled" should appear. Otherwise, you don't have a compatible drive.
Now when you open ImgBurn or any other burning software, it should report a maximum capacity of 8,738,897,920 bytes. If you remove the disc from the tray or power cycle the computer, you will need to do the BurnerMAX trick again.
