if it can be coded, it can be cracked, but all the industry (apparently) wants to do is stop the commercial pirates from selling their wares at the launch and delay them long enough for the industry to make a profit. this is why there are countless law suits for private file sharers no doubt!

What the industry is lobbying for is in America and then American global laws (lol) that any software on your pc that circumvents DRM is illegal and you will be severely prosecuted just for owning this software and be charged with attempted ip theft, which is why imo drm like sony's xcp rootkit had a phone home abilty the same as bd+ on blu-ray so when the studios are ready they can scan your pc and alert the authorities to someone owning a copy of any dvd.

I seldom make backups of my dvd's anymore - because most movies nowadays aren't worth watching again - however, there are occasionally a few I own that I do watch over again and make backups of.

The problem is I only use DVD shrink and DVD decryptor which haven't been updated in a few years and sometimes I can't make backups so I've been looking for a new program and I want to know if this programs is definatly worth getting?

Also what is the difference between AnyDVD and CloneDVD?

I'm curious is the quality of the transcode/burn really that much better than a combination of freeware programs? For instance I use dvdfab, vobblanker, DVD shrink, and then burn with Nero. I guess what i'm really asking is, are you just paying for convenience and constant updates? Or is the final quality noticeably better?

basically yes you're paying for convenience and constant updates and actually the final quality using the "Deep Analysis" with dvd shrink is a little better if the compression is higher . you won't notice a difference if the compression isn't that high between dvd shrink or clonedvd 2

the problem is that in the usa, just owning a copy of this will soon land you with a 20 year jail term!

I use it, and it works. AnyDVD will also help out old programs; DVD X Copy Express, DVD Decrypter and other old burning programs that just can't cut it buy themselves anymore!

The change log for AnyDVD indicates that AI Scanner is a DVD feature not an HD DVD feature. Therefore it is more likely something akin to DVDFab's PlayPath or RipIt4Me's process to emulate a standalone DVD player's firmware that ignors the nonDVD compliant stuff on the disc and thus able to play.

The private viewing systems supported by the major motion picture studios is seriously flawed as it supports the unwelcome transition of a would be theater released to the streets. Why would they support a lazy home viewer system where they're trusting anyone of there choice to view these films "For Your Consideration" from home or in someone’s privacy, as if this system would not encourage duplication of a given film which is due to be released or is still in theaters and being considered for an award? Private screenings should be held in theaters where no media is distributed and the movie remains in the possession of the studio. Today most computers are sold with DVD and or HD/BLU-RAY recorders. Your local BEST BUY is loaded with blank DVD media, and on the internet you can find numerous DVD decrypting software designed to assist in duplicating copy written material. The studios don't care. All of the attention from the so-called boot-legging is just another form of promotion and no doubt is a projected $insured$ loss. The motion picture company's and there distributors are making money off of this. This duplicating of copy written film media is being done in home by everyday people who purchase DVD, HD DVD & BLU-RAY DVD retail. Be it as collectors with interest in archiving there purchase, or the budding college student looking to make some extra cash on campus and Hollywood knows this. That's why this behavior isn't aggressively perused by the US legal authorities. It's very much a white collar crime. The guy on the street is doing nothing but pushing illegally sourced material from a downtown urban distributor for small profit, he's not making them. Your sons and daughters are making them at home and duplicating, uploading, & dowloading. All from their home PC.

yeah it runs fine with dvd shrink nero recode 2 and of course clonedvd 2 .you will have to disable anydvd so dvd fab decrypter will run though and actually dvd fab will disable anydvd for you when you open the program

Anyone serious about backing up DVD's with the highest possible Quality, should use DVD Rebuilder with CCE.

Regarding the SlySoft product downloads, I don't intend to use them on this particular computer which I only use on the internet.
It is much more convenient for me to use another of my computers, which is in an office situation and not connected to the net.
Thus: Can I download any particular product that I may purchase from them, burn it to a CD, then use the programs on my other PC.
