Hackers continue to amaze me... I don't own a PSP (nor do I plan to), but this is great news to consumers! Just when I read that PSP is getting too hard to exploit, they come out with something like this! Has anyone bought the "Undiluted Platinum Chip" or whatever? How is that going?

Reverse engineering is great, it keeps dishonest capitalism honest. Hackers if anything, are very much dedicated to their work.

There was a podcast somewhere about that platinum chip that showed homebrew and ISOs running very well on a PSP with v2.71. =)

yeah that vid is on youtube. its great for 2.5 and 2.6 users but they still need to do some more work with it to enable iso backups, or so ive heard

So everything is able to run now on the new firmware now?! Amazing! I thought they had pulled the plug on it...so is there any point in that modchip anymore?!

Except each time you want to use the exploit you have to run a legitimate copy of GTA: LCS, which is a pain in the a$$. Awesome though, nobody thought hacking 2.5+ was ever going to be possible without the use of the chip.
Here is the YouTube vid if eanybodu is interested.

So...does this mean that soon (or even very soon) all homebrew applications will work as well as iso backups?
It will be very f***ing annoying to have to load the GTA exploit all the time but I'd rather be able to do everything a 1.5 could do with a long and slow GTA exploit and having the capabilities of a 2.5..(I'd even update to 2.6..if it works exactly the same way as 2.5)
Just one thing...as long as the GTA eloader does not crash and it works the first time...then the process wont be so annoying...
BOTTOM LINE: I AM VERY HAPPY!! FINALLY!
P.S.
Is there a way to have it wirelessly connected to comp and the game is on the hdd of the comp and u play it from there? I ask because I'd rather bring my laptop..CD's, DVD's and in this case UMD's are so annoying to carry around...I always bring my laptop anyway (its a pentium 3, 600 Mhz...not so good but at my age its better than nutn)

@s3a
Assuming you can you have 1.5, you could use Devhookw/USBhostFS for playing things off your hard drive with a usb cable or maybe even iRSHELL to trick your psp into thinking your hard drive is ms0 (memory stick root)and then loading isos up with DAXZISO. iRSHELL supports both WiFi(nethost) and usb (usbhostfs).

Its sad to so that game modders and hardware modders are picking up the slack the industy leaves behind...soon the indutry will ahve enough rope to hang itself..its not there yet...but tis damn close with all these crapy protections,overchangeing and bad games....

oliver why the would you uprgrade to do the same thing?? This exploit is bs, just buy the chip and be happy. This exploit is only good news for high firmware owners that dont have money for the chip, at this point only bricked psp's have resulted from this "experiment"
