Top ten pirated movies in June

Written by Petteri Pyyny @ 10 Jul 2001 6:03

MediaForce (website) released a list of top 10 pirated movies on the Net for the month of June. Three of the titles on top 10 charts, Tomb Raider, Shrek and Pearl Harbor, are movies that were released during May or June.
MediaForce uses patent-pending technology to identify movies, regardless of their compression format, analyzing P2P applications, newsgroups and websites in order to identify pirated movie titles.

The charts for June are (ordered by frequency of piracy):

  1. Snatch (Screen Gems)
  2. Pearl Harbor (Buena Vista)
  3. Traffic (USA Films)
  4. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (Paramount Pictures)
  5. Shrek (Dreamworks SKG)
  6. The Matrix (Warner Brothers)
  7. Gone in 60 Seconds (Touchstone Pictures)
  8. Hannibal (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer)
  9. Gladiator (Dreamworks SKG)
  10. X-Men (20th Century Fox)

According to Google's (website) search word statistics, released earlier this week, most popular P2P file-sharing application at the moment is eDonkey2000.
