Internet Download Manager v5.11 Build 5

Internet Download Manager (IDM) is a tool to increase download speeds, resume and schedule downloads. I tried this a while back on the recommendation of a friend who said it worked great for him. Upon downloading and installing it I was not really impressed with the speed that I got from it and the fact that it wanted to automatically download from the site I was in. I changed one setting only, that one was not to allow the program to download automatically. I shut the computer off and went out, when I came back and booted back up, up came a message saying the default networking connection for internet download manager had been changed and did I want to change it back to it's default. I allowed the change and it wanted to reboot again, only this time when it rebooted the system network authority program came up with it saying that the remote procedure call had been terminated unexpectedly and the computer was shutting down. I had 60 seconds and the computer shut down and rebooted only each time it rebooted I got the same message over and over again. I couldn't even get to system restore to undo the change. To me this program is nothing more than a piece of garbage and an accident waiting to happen. Before I installed it I had no problems downloading at all and no problems with network connections default or otherwise.

yaaz alomst a million downloads but only like 5 comments???????? geez ad has got to limit downloads to members only!!!

Maybe tried IDM once. But Orbit is free. Medium high learning curve. Setup to virus scan incoming downloads to your folder choice. Downloads streaming media and works with IE or Firefox. Others?
