The KMPlayer is a versatile media player which can cover various types of container format such as VCD, DVD, AVI, MKV, Ogg Theora, OGM, 3GP, MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, RealMedia, and QuickTime among others.

Software handles a wide range of subtitles and allows you to capture audio, video, and screenshots in many ways.

The player provides both internal and external filters with a fully controlled environment in terms of connections to other splitters, decoders, audio/video transform filters and renderers without grappling with the DirectShow merit system. Internal filters are not registered to user's system to keep it from being messed up with system filters.

The KMPlayer includes almost all the essential decoders required for media playback. Furthermore, to get beyond the limitation of internal decoders, the external ones such as commercial h.264 decoders or cyberlink/intervideo audio decoders can be specified, so that KMP works optimally by the users' own customization. Even though the KMP is based upon directshow structure, it supports Winamp, Realmedia and Quicktime by the internal logic. Thus, it is possible to specify where to try to connect firstly the media in preferences.

In short, the player provides a strong hybrid structure efficient for interconnecting various directshow filters, winamp input&dsp plugin, and internal filters. The most outstanding feature is that the player has the full control of filter connections to prevent a media playback from being messed.

The player can set multifarious audio and video effects, slow down or increase playback speed with regular tone, select parts of a video as favorites, do an exceptionally powerful A-B repeat, remap the keys of remote interface for HTPC including overlay screen controls, change a skin dynamically depending on a media type playing, and many more. It is completely customizable thanks to a wide selection of skins and color schemes, and the configuration options are extremely extensive.

I aggree with Ultragod will not play subtitles with out having to download also no closed captions. a lot of us that are hearing impaired use them all the time.

I like this player because it usually has no problems playing most formats. I also like being able to view the files resolution with just one click. Downside to this program is that it may tend to crash and/or freeze when playing certain formats. It�s still a lot faster than other players such as Realplayer, Windows media player, and QuickTime.

This media player is all around essential. I think that is is number one, and is hard to beat. I've tried so many players before, but this one doesn't fail to play any video, unlike others.

I have too tried km player , just out of curiosity, and I have to say honestly I was impressed it went far from my expectation. To begin, it can play nearly everything. Besides, it has too many nice features (speed control, brightness adjust...) and the best of all: it is compatible with winamp plugins, so that I can play my favourite music formats from videogames (ADX, PSF, SPC...). I present my thanks and encouragement to the Korean team.

Please disregard the comments made by ultragod about the KMPlayer. Ultragod is completely wrong, and appears to have a personal issue with KMPlayer. The KMPlayer is still the BEST video player out there especially the latest version. I have reviewed every video player out there including commercial players such as WinDVD and PowerDVD. I purchased "WinDVD 9 Plus" for HD and Blu-ray but have not tried the blu-ray yet. Overall, the KMPlayer has the most and best features and tweaks, and is very user friendly. The KMPlayer is my default video player. My congratulations and thanks to the developers of the KMPlayer. Please keep up the good work and keep the updates coming.

The program is just a ridiculous NON-FUNCTIONAL attempt 2 conceal FFDSHOW under 9 layers of 'skin' & submenu nonsense. It's obviously written by idiots with NO common sense! Cryptic little 'mystery buttons' 4 functions (then hidden in submenus - thanx so much) meanwhile TONS of space dedicated 2 ridiculous animated bullsh*t! Half the FFDSHOW plugins (which they pretend 2 have designed) have been broken in the process, & they have gone out of their way 2 make it more clunky & difficult 2 use than just running MPC or MPC-HC with FFDSHOW. VLC isn't an alternative - doesn't even let U save EQ settings N E more (& an old version is out of the question, as it's such junk can't even play MP3 without skipping). There are only 2 useful media player programs in the world - MPC, & GOM. Everything else is GARBAGE! (like this KM junk) so believe me, don't waste your time. I've tried them all. Ideally somebody should roll a tab interface into GOM & MPC so instead of having 'docking' junk, just displays pages like a Firefox browser or whatever, such as 'EQ', 'Video' (& sub-tabs), etc :) That would B awesome! It AMAZES me N E 1 likes this player - just goes 2 show there's a sucker born every minute!

The KMPlayer is simply the best video player out there (except for Quicktime) and believe me I have tried them all. The KMplayer keeps getting even better with each new update. Please keep up the great work and please keep the updates coming.

Until I installed this, Media Player Classic was my player of choice. The KMPlayer is the best player out there right now :) You don't need half a dozen players for your files anymore!

For the comment about KMPlayer accessing the internet. Right click on KMP window, under Options/Preferences/When Starting Tab, untick Check if new version is available. This should stop the internet access. I use Zone Alarm and blocking it does not seem to freeze up the machine. This is in version 2.9.3.1378 but I would expect newer versions to be the same. The KMPlayer has a lot of options (almost overwhelming) and I have found it useful to review DVDs I have created. Cuber

like most people boasting this the best player out there, i might be able to agree with them except my beef with the DVD playback. i tried it and it either takes too long to read a DVD or it locks up my computer. also, if the DVD does work, the sound is so distant that even turning up everything to max wont help it. reading a DVD from the harddrive is quick. but when the player fails to respond, you'll have all your hair pulled out before it shuts down. i'm happy and very pleased with VLC and will stick with that as i've never had a problem with it.

This software is TEH HOTS. I play everything. Here's a really cool trick: 1. Get rid of all your audio players. 2. Get rid of all your video players including DVDs. 3. Just use this to do everything. Done. TRY IT!

KMPlayer is the best video player. I have tried them all and I am always looking for new ones. KMPlayer is loaded with features. Compared to media player classic, it has more features. I am looking forward to future updates. Keep up the great work. FC

at first i was also very glad to have this all in one player, capable of playing multiple formats without having to fiddle about codec updates. however i started noticing that every time i use this player, it tries to send out private information(spyware). i tried to block the out going connection with my firewall, but the whole PC would freeze up. i went back to using vlc & media player. i also changed all my credit card number use with this PC.

Just like KenM said, this is the best player available! It plays everything (including RealMedia!) and has built-in codecs, so you won't ever have codec conflicts or distorted video.

This is the best video player, and I've tried them all. I used to use ZoomPlayer but KMPlayer has better controls and dialogs and somehow the videos look better. It can also zoom in to a portion of the video (ironically ZoomPlayer can't).
