Plextor has announced the immediate availability of the TurboPlex PX-800A DVD Super Multi Drive, which the company says is fully compatible with Microsoft's new Windows Vista operating system. The company says the new DVD±R/RW CD-R/RW drive introduces a new level of performance and features, including 12X DVD-RAM and a software bundle that includes Roxio Easy Media Creator 9.
It uses the E-IDE ATAPI interface for easy connectivity with personal computers running the Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista operating systems. It supports industry-leading 12X-speed DVD-RAM functionality for removable data storage applications.

Blank DVD media (+r/-r) can be written at 18x for single layer and 8x for dual-layer. The PX-800A multi-drive also features a 2MB buffer and Buffer Underrun Proof Technology to prevent buffer underrun errors and allow multi-tasking.
