Kutaragi hints at his vision of PlayStation 4

Hes been shot down to R&D and frankly thats where he needs to be...

Sony should have let that clown go a long time ago. Can't see why Nintendo wants a loud mouth like him. Every time he says anything in public, his business/employer suffers.

The funny thing with the "PlayStation" brand I remember reading out of a PlayStation magazine (maybe not the magazine but one geared towards it) when the first real hint of the PS2 was released, made by someone high up the Sony food chain, that they plan on making at least 20 PlayStations (that is a PS20 :p, not twenty PS1s ;)).

They commented on the use of Biometrics and said something to the liking of "Not in the foreseeable future but we will be thinking about it around PlayStation 15"

Any way look to the future for new console lines is not to bad but hes basically a R&D geek who cant curtail his enthusiasm in order to make a "solid" product.

Can soemoen quote the wont need a new PS system till 014 and yet they are working on one for 011 mess?

I think they should chill and focus on lowering the PS3 price this system is strong enough to last 8 years easy.

BTW I wonder out of the 20 PS systems how many of them are model 2's? :X

Please don't ruin PS4/5/6 even Sony can't comeback after that much of a failure.

PS1/2 was great, but the success was too much for Ken's head and he tought he could just throw anything together and people would pay to play and pay to make games for it (even if it costed them a arm and leg), bad move even a idoit knows not to over estimate their true wealth (too many people do that and they fail).

Why is he thinking about PS 4, 5 and 6 when 3 is all but D.O.A? I liked the first two, but I'm getting tired of the excessive hyping of mundane components, trying to pass off the Cell processor as a "super computer on a chip"? Whatever...when benchmarked it couldn't even hang with a PPC G3 CPU, so the Cell chip only performs well in "ideal conditions", i.e. a benchmark environment. I just wish the Dreamcast survived...now that was a nice system with a lot of cool games, and it had potential.

there has been talks and i have read stories that Nintendo is actually interested in him and has made contact with him about joining Nintendo.

of course this all speculation until there is a real press release.

but "wider world" could be interpreted as Nintendo since they have sold 40mil ds' and soon to eclipse all current gen sales with the wii

Meh Nintendo's naming scheme is kinda lame segas was not so bad I'd rather them not try so er.... "hard" at naming the consoles....god knows what marking gimick they will try to push sales....

why it would be more powerfull than the PS3 at twice the cost...just lower the PS3 some and work on the BWC :X

The PS4 will use a chicken skin disk as the format, you will need a brain chip to be able to play it and only EA will make games for it.

If Sony had ANY marketing sense, they would would scrap the bluray bullsh!t and follow the business strategy M$ is currently using. Cmon, nobody needs a videogame that is damn near 20 gigs large....especially seeing as the content is mostly the same as that of a DVD9 game. Uncompressed video/fmv isnt a valid reason to push a media that nobody really wants.

Remember, the size of the the game doenst make it good!! Does the ps3 even have 5 worthwile games yet??

This is crazy :) ps3 has just came out and they are already talking about 4,5 and 6. If they are planning another 3 in the production line what is the point of getting 3 now.

At least Sony is thinking of future consoles instead of re releasing the same console over and over again and charging a higher price for it. I don’t see Sony doing a PS3 Elite. If MS put as much concentration into whatever the new Xbox will be called instead of the (2 years old) 360 they could have a console that would put anything Sony could even "think" of doing to shame. For now all they have is a older and weaker console that (for now) has more games and is cheaper.

You people and the no games thing. Bash Sony about the game thing after the PS3 is out for a year or more. Relax.... They're coming. I’m sure Sony knows they screwed up. I was dead set against the Xbox until Sony botched the launch of the PS3. I wanted to play games and I wanted to play them now so I had to get a 360. I couldn’t be happier with it. Sony is real close to losing me as a customer but I’ll pass my total judgment after a year or so to give them a chance to fix the issues they have. Until then I’ll play my 360 and keep a cover over my PS3 so it don’t collect a whole lot of dust.

Why do we keep going with the playstation name why cant they come up with something new. For ex. Gamestation. even taht is more exciting.

What I meant was that people with a PS2 that are passive gamers probably would wait if they think that Sony is already thinking about PS4. That means Sony will probably not be putting as much effort into PS3 updates and such if they move their priorities over to development on PS4. I'm just saying that one would think that PS3 will soon be outdated if they know that Sony is already considering how to make a PS4. I'm not saying that just because there will eventually be a PS4, that people wont get a PS3.

No,take myself for instance i won't buy either new consoles now simply because i don't want to pay those prices,but i'd love a 360 as i like halo,so i'll end up getting the game when it comes down in price as well as a console for the same reason,you have to remember also the upgrades for the 360 and PS3 have'nt finished either

4 5 6? wth... 3 is a good system if only it worked right and was lower on price y talk about 4 let alone 5,6 i sudgest fixing the ps3 bugs first, their getting too bigheaded...yes sony is a great name and thats mainly what i buy but damn take a chill pill worrie bout ps3...........so far every ps3 i have played froze up on me real quick...even the stores display systems are froze and iv been to alot of stores.....out of all the ps3 iv seen out of the box only one was working fine and i didnt even get to play it myself.


as for a 360 i have one and i love it graphics are would like to compare ultimate alliance....have GoW and all i got to say is WOW...
the tv or monitor used to play these games help alot too...have a 52 wide HDTV plasma....game looks so life like i get nightmares bout it jk

however the PS4 is years off (like 4-6) and I have a feelign the Xbx 2 is 3-6 years off so in 5 or 6 years welcome to the 8th generation of gameing or whatever.them stating they are planing out another one is simply fact since console lines are remade every 4-7 years.


to me the PS3 is a strong system if they don't lower the price its going to have issues but one that price goes lower than 510$ it will sale reasonably well and then they can rebuild on it I doubt sony is dumb enough to bring out a "patch it console" PS4 like PS3 but minus BR that would kill them for sure,the PS3 is near prefect all it needs is a 30% price drop and more games.

I think this link is just fake. I read other places and he didnt say anything about PS5 or PS6. All I read was that the PS4 may or may not be out 2010.

I am not to shocked at what he says hes like a cheff part of a elite team that prepares meals hes a bit "eccentric" he dose well at what he dose but tends to piss others off at what he says and what he dose,this time he got to lead the team and few a fancy pricey meal to someone that just wanted a top qauilty hamburger fries and soda.

All in all its his job to work on and plan out a couple consoles ahead yes even 3 or 4 you have to put the look together sometime then build specs when you the tech is avalibale to you.
