Joost raises $45 million USD

Written by Andre Yoskowitz @ 10 May 2007 8:10 User comments (10)

Joost raises $45 million USD Joost announced today that they have raised $45 million USD from a group of investors that includes CBS and Viacom. This news comes after Joost announced they would be allowing unlimited invites for the beta version fo their service.
To date, Joost's largest problem is the quality of the content viewers can receive. Hopefully this new funding and CBS and Viacom's plans to make their content available on the service will help to solve that problem.

I have been playing around with it. It's very well put together technically. I think they should be able to buffer a bit better when your bandwidth tanks.

I was running pretty well, then the video went to hell. I would rather see a few seconds of buffer then resume instead of everything pixelating and continuing.

I need a first and last name and a valid email to send the invite to anyone wanting one. PM or email me that info if you want an invite sent. 85thor@hushmail.com

it works ok and has some content, but definitely not enough content yet.

also it runs pretty slow. Joost is always slowing down my computer, and also just taking way too long to load.

i like the idea, but im waiting for them to make it a little better. Its much better than the original version, but still needs a lot of work i think.
