Apple gains permanent injunction against Psystar A federal judge has awarded Apple a permanent injunction against illegal Mac clone maker Psystar this week, banning it from selling any hardware running the Mac OS X operating system.
Says AppleInsider of the ruling:

Psystar is now banned from:

* Copying, selling, offering to sell, distributing or creating derivative works of Mac OS X without authorization from Apple.

* Intentionally inducing, aiding, assisting, abetting or encouraging any other person or entity to infringe Apple's copyrighted Mac OS X software.

* Circumventing any technological measure that effectively controls access Mac OS X, including, but not limited to, the technological measure used by Apple to prevent unauthorized copying of Mac OS X on non-Apple computers.

* Playing any part in a product intended to circumvent Apple's methods for controlling Mac OS X, such as the methods used to prevent unauthorized copying of Mac OS X on non-Apple computers.

* Doing anything to circumvent the rights held by Apple under the Copyright Act with respect to Mac OS X.

Psystar has until December 31st to begin complying with the new ruling. It is still unclear as to whether the injunction will include the Rebel EFI software which allows for Mac OS X installation on some Intel-powered PCs.

Apple is an evil company, by an order of magnitude more than MS. It's anticompetative to a fault and is constantly glorified. I will never own any apple product EVER. All these apple nuts need to realside that they are supporting the worlds most evil tech company.
In the 21st Century they're still forcing you to buy their hardware to use their OS when even on your mobile phone you have the choice of manufacturer for some OS's that you like. It's a crying shame. Well I am glad I can live without anything from evil's apple.

You sir are a god. You pretty much hit the exact reason why Apple should be avoided like the plague. And before the fanboys hit, Macs CAN be hacked, so don't play that defense.

U first plz!

Apple is pretty much the epiphany of a modern business, who needs a good fair working business model, keep the monopoly tight and on point put more money into the monopoly when you start losing money like with the music industry in general and things will work out are you will move on to a new monopoly!

Apple is a punishment from Shiva, thrust upon those who refuse to research anything. I used to get annoyed at all the blatent lies in Apple commercials...now I just think, "At least if all these iddiots are on apple, then they won't be online in PC games" and "At least if all these morons are using iPhones, I will have plenty of signal on Verizon"

I'm sorry the only product I have from ipod is a 2nd gen shuffle, but they deserve THEIR right to withhold where THEIR software goes. If they choose to release it on their machines only than that's THEIR affairs, particularly if they find it allows them to monitor the useage of their software more tightly and as part of wider business scheme they have running. Perhaps it is very stupid since I reckon they'd make more if they sold their software out lke Microsoft does with Windows, but as a private company that is their choice, and imagine yourself in their position and how you'd feel if someone else was making money off your product and potentially taking revenue from you. I know you can counter that in many ways, but it's their choice. Call them stupid, dumb, ignorant in terms of business, but ethically what they are doing can be seen as "right", not evil.
