LG announces 2.6mm thick LCD panel

LG announces 2.6mm thick LCD panel Today LG Electronics announced a mew LCD TV panel which will be the world's thinnest, measuring just 2.6mm thick. The announcement was timed as a promotion for the company's exhibit at CES, where the new panels will be on display.
The reduction in panel thickness was made possible in part through the use of LED backlighting. This also improves image quality compared to older LCD panels

The panels also feature a 120Hz refresh rate and full HD (1080P) resolution.

People getting Fatter, Electronics getting thinner. ah the irony

Sorry, I don't understand what good a 2.6mm thick TV is.

The HDTVs these days are thin enough. Honestly, why would this make the viewing pleasure any better?

Is not more pleasurable, just easier to handle. Is so thin, you don't need a stand for it, you can just use duck tape to hang it on the wall.

That would be nice,I'd say thin enough, but you'd kinda loose portability once painted...

i aggree with this. i believe a thicker tv is better as they will have better speakers (as i dont have surround sound) and a <3mm thick tv seems easy to snap, sont you agree.
