New article: Backing up a Playstation CD – a CloneCD 4 guide

24 May 2002 12:51 by Lasse "cd-rw.org" Penttinen | 8 comments

How to copy a Playstation CD? That is an old question but still very frequently asked.

The latest CloneCD introduced new user interface, one of the major improvements being the ability create profiles for various types of CDs to be backed up. CD-RW.ORG has previously published a guide (not online anymore) to backup PSX CDs with CloneCD 3 generation, so now it was time to update that. Note that we are talking about CDs for the original Playstation 1 and not the more recent PS2.

Does this method allow you to backup psx CD's and use them without a mod-chip? Or do you still need a modified psx to use the backup CD's?

You will always need a MOD-chip. This method should give you good quality backups though.

cyric69 I heard that if you take out the movies you can burn most of the dvd games to a cdr disk, the only draw back is you really have to know what your doing when you rip these games in oder to take out the movie clips since the movie clips do tell you more about the story line in the actual game scenario.

I have a ps2, modchip, cd-rw drive and a cd-rom drive. Can I still rip ps2 games and burn them onto cd?
