A guy calling himself HolyLiaison is apparently developing a new Peer-To-Peer application called Swapciety. What makes it different from the rest of the clients is it's connectivity to various P2P networks as well as instant messaging networks.
The full feature list:
Instant Messaging:
·ICQ, AOL Messenger, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger Connectivity. Plus, all the main features of each service.
·Share/send files with ICQ/AIM/MSN/Yahoo.
IRC Chat:
·Share/send files with IRC users.
·Full scripting support.
Media Center:
·Ability to play all supported media files with available codecs.
·Ability to burn audio/mp3/iso/bin/backup CDs.
·Ability to keep track of all your files downloaded and stored on your computer. (Library of files sorted in groups for easy management)
Control Panel:
·P2P Connection Options (Swapciety, KaZaA, Gnutella, WinMX, eDonkey, OpenNap)
·IM Connection Options (ICQ, MSN, AIM, Yahoo!)
·Adult Content Filter (Password Protected)
·Shared Media Options
·Connection Speed Options
·Firewall Options
·Ignore List Options
·Media Player Options
·Auto Hide Options
·Alpha Transparency Options
·Minimize To System Tray Options
·Throttle Settings
·Plug-in Settings
·Skin Settings
·Swapciety Que Sheet Manager
Searching:
·By Extension: .Mp3, .WMA, .AVI, .ISO, .TXT, .SWAP, and a lot more…
·By Bit Rate: At Least, Equal To, Maximum, Any
·By Artist
·By Album
·By Genre
·By Size
·By Language
·By Connection Speed (28.8, 36.6, 56k, 64/128k ISDN, Cable, DSL, T1, T3 and Above)
·By Network (Swapciety, KaZaA, Gnutella, WinMX)
·Swapciety Skin Search
·Art Community Search (Wallpapers, Themes, Program skins, etc)
·User Search
Sure sounds impressive, huh? The project should be open source once it's finished. Kind of strange to make it open source then. I'm sure the development would be much faster if it were made a joint venture.

ya think there might be many? *G*
The pursuit of happiness is a most ridiculous phrase; if you pursue happiness you'll never find it.

Thanks for the exposure. Been looking for some. :P
As for releasing the source after I'm done, there's a simple reason for that:
I don't want people stealing my ideas unless they do it the hard way. :)
Once I'm done, I wont give two shits. ;)

Will this support lossless music formats, or only MP3.
Do you have a notification site where we can provide our e-mail addresses and be notified when your program is available.
Thanks for your hard work!!
