YORK, October 29 /PRNewswire/ --
- New Site Launch Lets You Make the News as Well as Read it
The MakeTheNews.tv social networking site has launched in Yorkshire,
Humberside and Manchester. Founder Matthew Ford aims to create a site where
people can make their own news on subjects and issues that are important to
them, and he plans to soon target other regions throughout the UK.
Matthew remarks 'In the coming months I hope to add more regions of the
UK so that by doing this I can create a regional news site which has national
coverage, so people from all different groups can connect with each other.'
Matthew, who is originally from Harrogate, was struck by the lack of
newsworthy stories because many are just being ignored, forgotten or swept
under the carpet. He started with the recent flooding across Hull and
Pickering and found that there were so many people who had something to say
but there was nowhere for them to voice their news.
Matthew says: 'Just because the Press is not reporting it that doesn't
mean that the problem has gone away. It was incredible to see the amount of
problems the flooding had caused and that the local residents were struggling
to cope. I was amazed that so many people wanted to find some way to air
their news stories about their misfortunes but there was nowhere to go'
The MakeTheNews.tv website also aims to give people the opportunity make
news reports or publicise what they are doing in their lives. For instance
the site gives local musicians, artists and sports teams somewhere where they
can gain recognition if they are not being covered by the local press.
Matthew continues 'The advantage of this site is that as it is video
based it gives people the opportunity to create 'real' news stories about
themselves. For instance on the Music Channel bands can talk about themselves
as well as showcasing their music which is invaluable for securing publicity'
'In addition I hope to develop "News About You, Your Family and Friends"
where people can make news reports about what is happening in their lives and
share it with close family and friends. This will keep the site personal so
only people you want to see your news, can'
