LONDON, November 30 /PRNewswire/ --
- Cambridge University Press Partners with Ebooks Corporation to Launch
Institutional Ebook Library Service
On the first day of the major Online Information Conference in London
this week, Cambridge University Press announced that it will use Ebooks
Corporation's eb20 platform to deliver ebooks to academic libraries. In
response to the growing demand for digital resources from academic
institutions, Cambridge University Press will launch its own ebook product,
Cambridge eBook Collections, in December. Cambridge Collections will feature
subject-based collections of ebooks, and collections will be sold on a
perpetual access, unlimited multiple concurrent user basis. The initial
release of Cambridge eBook Collections, available to Asia Pacific only, will
include specialist collections of humanities, science and business ebooks.
Andrew Brown, Managing Director Academic & Professional Publishing said,
"Cambridge University Press has been at the forefront of digital publishing
innovation since the birth of the Web. The launch of Cambridge eBook
Collections marks a new milestone in fulfilling the Press's promise to
pro-vide flexible, instant access to readers around the world. Our authors
can be confident that their works will reach the widest possible scholarly
audience, and our institutional customers will have access to a growing range
of high value academic works.
"We have worked with Ebooks Corporation for many years as a trusted
technology provider, and chose their eb20 platform because it combines the
twin virtues of robustness and immense simplicity," he added.
Ebooks Corporation's Director of Technical Services, Suzanne Cole said,
"We're delighted that Cambridge University Press has selected eb20 as their
technical platform for Cambridge eBook Collections. Cambridge is a leader in
academic digital publishing and eb20's intuitive user interface and strong
security will be an ideal platform for the purpose."
More details

with strong anti-piracy measures. Until now, strong copy-protection has meant
a clumsy and complicated end-user experience.
Initial Subject Collections will include:
-- Language & Linguistics
-- Economics
-- Business and Finance
-- Physics
-- Maths
