Green.co.uk Goes Up for Auction

COLOGNE, Germany, January 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Sedo, the leading online market place for buying and selling Internet
domain names and websites, has announced green.co.uk has been put up for
auction by its owner.

The generic Internet domain name, green.co.uk, was registered by its
present owner, Mr Green, twelve years ago in 1996. Sedo, which has an
exclusive contract agreement with Green, will manage the auction and upon
completion of sale, oversee the legal transfer of the Internet domain name on
behalf of both the seller and buyer.

Potential buyers can bid for green.co.uk by visiting
http://www.sedo.co.uk and searching for the Internet domain. The auction will
initially run until Thursday January 24th 2008.

Nora Nanayakkara, business development director, Sedo UK, commented: "The
possibility of owning green.co.uk is likely to attract a high price tag
because of all the interest surrounding the environment. With over a million
websites containing the word green in the Internet address bar, yet only one
green.co.uk, it's a rare opportunity to secure such a topical co.uk Internet
domain name.

"The value in owning category defining Internet domain names has been
quickly recognised across the Atlantic by organisations such as Johnson &
Johnson who snapped up baby.com and the Bank of America who bought loans.com.
We expect organisations here to follow suit. With over 27 million online
shoppers in the UK(x), the largest online retail market in Europe,
organisations can capture more of this sought-after audience by owning
premium generic co.uk Internet domain names."

In November 2007 recycle.co.uk sold for GBP150,000, the highest figure
paid for a co.uk Internet domain name. Generic Internet domain names, such as
green.co.uk, enable organisations to capture direct Internet traffic, caused
by users who type a word or term straight into their Internet browser.
Generic names also enable companies to grow their online presence and
strengthen their brand.
