Tata Interactive's Innovative Approach Enables Learning Efficiency

MUMBAI, India, June 9 /PRNewswire/ --

- Tata Interactive Systems' Story-Based Learning Objects (StoBLs(TM))
Help Clients Worldwide to Adapt a Time-Tested Methodology to Enhance Learning

Global learning provider Tata Interactive Systems' (TIS) Story-based
Learning Objects (StoBLs(TM)) have been recognized for their ability to
enhance the learning experience and improve the learner's ability to retain
information.

Although a relatively new concept, StoBLs(TM) have become a popular
learning trend with organizations ranging from Transportation and Logistics
companies to Financial Advisories, and even Airlines.

According to Poushali Chatterjee from TIS's StoBLs(TM) team, "The simple
story-telling methodology is proven to be highly effective, especially for
matters concerning organizational values, ethics, IT security, privacy, etc.
StoBLs(TM) are the optimum technique for inculcating behavior or soft skill
changes."

TIS has created several StoBLs(TM) for its global list of clients,
including a program for Mashreq Bank's core values, UPS's project on
leadership skills, a training for Tata Steel employees on their Code of
Conduct, and AIG's new hire induction program.

The most recent organization to adapt Story-based Learning has been a
Saudi-based oil giant, for whom TIS is developing a 30-minute StoBL, which
can be used to educate its employees and the public about petrochemicals in
general.

Discussing the impact of a StoBL, Poushali mentions, "Based on the data
we have collected from one of our clients, British Airways, we have found
StoBLs(TM) to be preferred over mundane, simple e-learning programs. Feedback
has suggested that approximately 90% of employees take up the StoBL module,
even in non-mandatory training."

"Another point that comes up repeatedly is that the learners are not
conscious of the fact that they are learning. According to user feedback from
a Royal Mail program, most learners have mentioned that with StoBL, learning
happens almost by stealth. This is sufficient proof of StoBL's efficiency,"
adds Poushali.

TIS's NewYork-Presbyterian Fire Safety StoBL, a story revolving around
six characters who took special steps towards fire safety, recently won the
ASTD Atlanta T-BL SIG (Technology-based Learning Special Interest Group) E-
Learning Award. Another win for TIS's StoBLs(TM) has been the Apex Award of
Excellence in the Campaigns & Programs - Employee, Benefit & Membership
Communications category for an Information Security StoBL for British
Airways.
