5 Ways to Optimize Your System

LONDON, June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- I constantly hear people complaining of sluggish systems, freeze ups and
conflicts between applications that can quickly drive even the most patient
person to despair. But it does not have to be this way! It does not take much
at all to bring your systems back to rocket speed.

When your performance slows down it is most likely a disorganized and/or
nearly full hard drive. This can be quickly resolved by using Disk Cleanup.
It will identify files that you can safely delete such as Internet and
Windows temporary files, unused downloaded programs and idle windows
components.

Immediately the performance boost is obvious.

It is also well known that fragmentation is a major cause of system slow
downs.

I recently came across this article on Microsoft page which highlights
the necessity to defrag your systems:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/magazine/cc137767.aspx.

I personally use an automatic third party defragmenter that works
invisibly in the background. With this type of software, you can tick off
defrag from your list of maintenance chores: it does it all by itself!

It is also important to have good anti-virus and anti-spy ware. They do
not improve systems' performance as such, but prevent their degradation. It
is vital to protect your computer; its performance; as well as your personal
information. Note that anti-virus scans are also much quicker when the system
is properly defragged.

Another must is to clean up the windows system registry. This is one of
the most important system files on your computer; it stores information to
ensure the PC runs properly. Because it gets cluttered with data and grows to
enormous proportions over time, cleaning it up will reduce the amount of
errors and improve the speed of your computer. You can clean it manually, but
if you are not sure what can or cannot be deleted, it is safest to use a
third party registry cleaner.

One more tip: almost all software will install itself into your
computers' start-up tray unless you select otherwise. These applications load
up automatically and drain your processing power that should be utilized on
the programs you're working on instead.

Therefore, make sure you disable all unnecessary applications on the
start-up menu. This can dramatically affect the speed of your computer,
especially during boot-up.

These basic steps result in an impressive performance boost, see for
yourself!
