Centre of Expertise to Encourage PHP Growth

AMSTERDAM, September 25 /PRNewswire/ --

- Ibuildings Hires PHP Heavyweight Cal Evans as Director

In order to further encourage the use of the PHP programming language and
to further enhance the quality of PHP programmers, Ibuildings will start a
PHP Centre of Expertise this year. The centre will be lead by Cal Evans, a
world-renowned PHP expert. He is, among many other things, the
editor-in-chief of one of the most important portals for PHP developers. His
transfer to Ibuildings caused quite a stir in the PHP community. In October
Evans will move from his current residence in Nashville (Tennessee - US) to
the Netherlands.

"PHP has an increasingly prominent position in the enterprise business
market," Evans says. "During the recent PHP developers' conference in
California we were inundated with examples from especially the European
telecommunications industry, where PHP is used in a wide range of
applications. Especially when dealing with high-volume transactions, PHP is a
faster time to market, and therefore cheaper, than competing programming
languages."

The goal of the Centre of Expertise is to provide a major boost to the
PHP community, which encompasses approximately 4.6 million developers.
Educating and implementing best practices is one of the most important
contributions Evans wants to provide through the Centre of Expertise. "Secure
programming, use of different methodologies, like Agile, are points of
particular interest. My goal is to make the professionals fully aware of the
desires and requirements of the enterprise market," Evans added.

Evans' transfer from the US to the Netherlands can rightly be called
remarkable. But Evans is flattered by Ibuildings' invitation. "Over the last
few years, I noticed that Ibuildings consistently hired the best people in
the PHP community. People I respect deeply. The combination of their vision
of PHP's current and future role plus their entrepreneurial mentality are
exceptional."

As an example of future growth, Evans mentions countries in South America
where the open source language PHP is increasingly being used. The porting of
I5 and COBOL to an Internet environment also increases the demand for PHP
expertise. "Demand for PHP programmers grew by 40 percent in 2007," Evans
says, emphasizing PHP's increasing importance.

In order to meet the high demand for expertise, in addition to the Centre
of Expertise, Evans will also be involved in Ibuildings' training department,
which provides PHP training for both its own employees and external parties.
