Travis Perkins Deploys SMARTDRIVE(TM) in the UK

LONDON, September 11 /PRNewswire/ --

SmartDrive Systems Inc. (TM), a leader in vehicle safety measuring and
management services, is pleased to announce today that Northampton-based (UK)
Travis Perkins PLC, a leading supplier to the UK building and construction
industry, has equipped a portion of its UK fleet with the SmartDrive system.

Travis Perkins has chosen to equip vehicles operated by Wickes, a wholly
owned subsidiary of Travis Perkins, Wickes is one of the UK's leading home
improvement retailers, operating over 170 stores across the country. This
project was funded by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, which has partnered with
SmartDrive in the UK to offer leading edge fleet risk solutions to its
clients. "This is SmartDrive's second project with Mitsui in the UK. Our
joint approach to improving commercial fleet safety is really taking hold
with progressive and safety conscious fleet operators in the UK, such as
Travis Perkins," according to Scott Raske, Managing Director for SmartDrive
in Europe.

"SmartDrive's system has already allowed us to proactively address
driving in a manner that we believe will result in overall safer driving and
fewer accidents. At Travis Perkins, we are always looking for ways to
facilitate the professional development of our drivers and improve road
safety," says Graham Bellman, Group Transportation Manager for Travis
Perkins.

"Mitsui Sumitomo is very supportive of SmartDrive's revolutionary
technology. We thought that Travis Perkins would be a good candidate for this
technology, as it will compliment the many other initiatives they have taken
to improve road safety and professionally develop their drivers. Travis
Perkins takes road safety seriously and so do we," according to Marc Wanless,
Motor Underwriter at Mitsui Sumitomo.

The SmartDrive in-vehicle unit is mounted behind the rearview mirror and
consists of two, tiny cameras -- one camera pointing forward, one pointing at
the driver. SmartDrive is an exception-based recording device, so driving
activities are recorded and saved 15 seconds before the event and 15 seconds
after it. The SmartDrive system also features multiple panic buttons, which
allow the driver to record and document incidents that may be caused by other
drivers or passengers. Data captured by SmartDrive's system is available to
clients via a secure, web-based portal which features incident review and
reporting services.

Based in San Diego, with a growing presence in the Europe, SmartDrive
mitigates fleet risk by improving driver safety and providing clients with
easy to access and meaningful data to review. By combining sight and sound
with event analysis and driver safety training, SmartDrive's automated event
recorder (AER) technology and associated web-based service can reduce vehicle
collisions and mystery damage by up to 50 percent. Customers include
enterprises with small- to mid-size fleets (e.g. food distribution,
ambulances, motor coaches, and taxi companies) and large fleets with 500+
vehicles (e.g. school bus, utility, waste management, logistics, courier,
utility and transit companies).
