VPN Client WISP(e)r Now With Hotspots

NUREMBERG, Germany, January 20 /PRNewswire/ --

- Simple Mobile Computing Also on Public WLANs

The new NCP Secure Entry Client for Windows supports the WISPr-Standard
and allows teleworkers to login at the hotspot with only one click.
Furthermore, both user and company have complete control of costs due to the
integrated budget manager. The new version supports roaming for
IPSec-connections and profile import of "foreign" VPN gateways.

With the help of the WISPr-Standard (Wireless Internet Service Provider
roaming), the new browser-free hot spot log-on technology, the access to hot
spots for users is simplified considerably. The NCP client is compatible with
all WISPr-enabled hot spots. Once configured, the user can establish a VPN
connection using the configured hot spots automatically with only one click.
The cumbersome input of user ID and password in the browser window can be
dispensed with. Hot spot support of additional providers is in preparation.

The Budget-Manager serves to monitor the costs of all available
connection types, focusing on UMTS, GPRS as well as WLAN connections. For
this purpose, the administrators or users configure volume or time limits
according to the basic provider rates. Should the user exceed his set limit,
depending on the settings either a warning notice appears or further
connection attempts are hindered. The Budget Manager also allows the
restriction or disabling of roaming. Nasty surprises in the monthly provider
invoice are avoided in this manner.

New import function simplifies the acceptance of existing profiles from
other VPN gateways (e.g. Cisco, WatchGuard, Safenet etc.). Import assistant
reads the relevant profiles and the VPN connection can then be started
immediately. The NCP Secure Client supports the following file formats:
*.ini, *.pcf, *.wgx and *.spd.

Integrated IPSec-Roaming assures that a connection will not be logically
interrupted despite changes of the IP address, i.e. the data communication
must not be newly established. A 30-day trial version of the Client offering
unrestricted use is available on the Internet at:
http://www.ncp-e.com/en/downloads/software.html. The software is available
via the NCP e-store and from NCP sales partners.

Additional Information

NCP Secure Entry Clients are the best example of how easy remote access
can be. They are often used in connection with IPSec gateways from third
party manufacturers - as an alternative to their VPN clients - due to their
extensive security and telecommunications performance features. They simplify
the work for both the teleworker as well as the network administrators.

This is particularly valued by our customers:

* Intuitive graphical user interface
    * Automatic connection establishment e.g. WISPr (Wireless Internet
Service Provider roaming), automatic media type recognition.
    * Error message in clear text for fast support
    * Cost management with budget manager
    * Independent from operating system and from terminals
    * Independent from VPN gateway
    * Less clicks per connection establishment
    * Integrated, dynamic personal firewall with fixed predefined firewall
      rules
    * Protection of the teleworking location during system start and also
      outside of a VPN
