New CIVIS Online Prize


BERLIN, April 3 /PRNewswire/ --     With the CIVIS Online Prize, the European CIVIS Media Prize is
offering an additional award for journalistically-prepared webpages on the
theme of integration and cultural diversity. Innovative multi-media offers of
high journalistic quality are being sought which handle the theme in
convincing fashion and are particularly suitable for the promotion of
peaceful coexistence in the European immigration society. The new online
prize is part of the renowned European CIVIS Media Prize for integration and
cultural diversity and will be open to entries from all over Europe of autumn
2009. The prize is endowed with 5,000 Euro.

The CIVIS Online Prize will honour journalistic forms which
are processed graphically and with a multi-media approach for the Web. The
accessibility of the webpages is decisive. All creative forms will be
permitted. The webpages must be accessible in German or English.

All suppliers are qualified to take part in the European CIVIS
Online Prize who are based in the European Union and Switzerland. The prizes
will be presented to official representatives or the persons responsible.

An independent international jury of leading journalists as
well as online experts will decide on the Internet offers taking part in the
competition and select the prize-winners. The process of law is excluded.

CIVIS - Europe's Media Prize for integration and cultural
diversity is organized by the ARD, represented by WDR, together with the
Freudenberg Stiftung. Media partners, among others, include ZDF, ARTE,
Phoenix, ORF and SRG SSR idée suisse as well as 3Sat and RTV Slovenia. The
German Savings Bank Finance Group, the European Parliament, the Integration
Commissioner of the German Federal Government, the WDR mediagroup and BAVARIA
FILM are partners.
