Rhapsody now available at Best Buy

Written by Jari Ketola @ 18 Aug 2003 1:05 User comments (4)

RealNetworks has signed a deal with Best Buy which allows it to sell subscriptions to its online music service Rhapsody at Best Buy stores and web site.
Rhapsody is now available at more than 15 online distributors, and after the Best Buy deal in over 560 retail stores in the North America.

Real also announced that it has managed to sign the Rolling Stones' music to be sold digitally via Rhapsody. Until now the Stones have refused to sign an online deal with any distributor.

Real's Rhapsody is trying hard to compete with Apple's iTunes, which has turned out to be a huge success. While iTunes sells tracks at $0.99 each, the song downloads cost only $0.79 a track at Rhapsody.

... but they´re restricted, right?

OK I can crack the restrictions with Audio Record Wizard. I want to know if I only stream the stuff how much will it cost me? If it is a cheap rate I may consider it. Real is a good company and I would buy it at Best buys and pay my bill each month to Best Buys for my music. It may be cool if I can watch movies with Real in the future. I don't like the .99 cent thing but with the Audio Record Wizzard I can steal the digital data that goes to the sound card and convert it to Mp3. So all in all I can put the songs onto an Mp3 disk and the RIAA can't sue me. However for now I am using ES5's Verified Direct Download site in Palistine where no one can touch them. I'll still check the Best buy Real player deal so I can get those rare files. Voodoohippie

Sounds like too much of a hassle.

No not really. Set the Mp3 bitrate to 192. Dont forget to set the config to record from sound card stream. Just follow these steps: 1. Download Audio record Wizzard. 2. Run the DRM file or Real Player or whatever you want to record. 3. Quickly press Record. 4. When song reaches the end press STOP. 5. Rename that file so it matches the artist and song. Now you do this to every song you want to record and they are Mp3 files. Riaa don't even know you have ever used Audio Record Wizard to steal the stream. Voodoohippie
