Sansa coming out with 32GB "View" model?

Written by Andre Yoskowitz @ 24 Oct 2007 3:29 User comments (8)

Sansa coming out with 32GB "View" model? In early September SanDisk announced its View media player in two models, 8GB and 16GB and aggressively priced at $149.99 USD and $199.99 USD, a nice price cut from comparable iPod products.
Although the players have not yet hit the market, it seems SanDisk has added another model to its View line. On the official Sansa Store, the product page for the view shows a reference to a 32GB model. The price for the new model? $330 USD, a full $70 less than the 16GB iPod Touch.

No word on when the latest model will be released but the product page also says the smaller models will be released on November 6th at the prices stated before.

why is this being compared to the ipod touch?

you can get an ipod classic which is still better than this thing for almost the same price and it comes with 160 gigs which is 5 times the memory.

the ipod touch is 70 bucks more yes.. but it also has a touch screen.

That's not quite a fair comparison either, because a 160GB player is going to be using a hard drive - which, while far cheaper than flash memory of the same capacity, is bulkier and consumes more power than flash memory. As far as flash-based players go, this is a pretty good deal.

Not a bad lil rival to the Ipod collection and its alot cheaper i would not mind trying this one out.

One...this player is the depth of a pencil...the "160gb" iPod classic u speak of his much bulkier, and consumes way more power due to having an HDD instead of flash based memory.

I've also tried the 2GB version. (Returned it the same day)

The select-wheel has a extremely cheap feel. Plus, the screen isn't big enough to watch any sort of video.

I own two sansa's and find they are a very good mp3 player. I am disappointed in the video aspect. Video and audio syncing is terrible.
called tech support and was told video clips longer then 10 minutes are a problem.
The View is suppose to correct this, plus it supports sdhc memory. also you can play video from the sd card.

I'd be curious to check one out. If it has some of the cheapy feel to it as some of the lesser ones i've dealt with, it would be a no go. But that's a pretty decent price. I might check it out.

Eat your heart out Zune.
