Update: Sony now "forgiven" by Church

Update: Sony now "forgiven" by Church Earlier this year, we reported that the Manchester Cathedral was upset at Sony because a replica of the holy building was used without permission in the hit game Resistance: Fall of Man.
Although Sony has apologized, they refuse to admit any wrong doing, and it seems that it doesn't matter anymore.

"I think some important lessons have been learnt," said the Dean of Manchester, speaking to the BBC. "So we forgive Sony for what they have done, even though they still believe they have done no wrong."

"In an industry that is breaking new frontiers, it is important that long held traditions of film and television are maintained. These traditions include having courtesy, respecting the dignity of your subject, and admitting when mistakes have been made,"
he added.

"In so many ways Sony have failed to live up to these standards by disrespecting people of faith and the victims of gun crime in Manchester,"
he finally noted.

In what should not be a surprise to anyone, the Dean also added that visits to the Cathedral had substantially increased since the controversy.

It took the Church a long time to give forgivness for such a small desgretion i thought it would have happened a lot sooner than that.

Wow! How ironic...LOL!

But its ok for churches to use copyrighted logos on there t-shirts, stickers, etc. Hmmm, the churches are the ones that sould be looking for forgivness.

Really sad, SONY SONY you are forgiven. Now the Dean visits to the Cathedral. Too bad.

Manchester Cathedral can kiss my ass. I hate Sony, but I have to side with them on this one. Sony did nothing wrong, it's just a building! I bet the cathedral was thrilled when they found out about it.

I think that says everything right there. The people who ran the church didn't like how it was used, but all the people that it brought made it worth while to them.

$$$$$$$$, can I get an Amen for SONY!

More people doesn't mean more money, and do you really think sony paid them? i doubt it, because don't you think they would have done something like upgraded there cathedral or opened a second one? They probably dropped it and shut up because they realized that it was pretty much free advertisement and that there were more guests coming in.
I do have to side with sony, I don't think there is anything wrong with using a building from RL in a game, seriously, if you look around there are buildings of every sort, thats like Some gas station freaking out at rockstar because there is a look alike in a grand theft auto.

Soon enough films will have to pay every building that is glimpsed in a scene!! I dont see the problem to be honest and what the hell was the priest doing playing Resistance:Fall of man? lol
