Apple orders 10 million 3G iPhones?

Although not confirmed by Apple, Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney, the research firm's iPhone expert, has said that Apple has "already placed orders for 10 million 3G iPhones" meaning the launch could be sooner rather than later.
Last year it was confirmed that a 3G version of the popular iPhone was coming, but Apple has not given an exact date as to when it is arriving. Analysts have suggested that June 2008 is the expected date, but there has been no confirmation.

In a phone interview, Dulaney also speculated that the upcoming 3G version would sport a OLED screen. Talks of an OLED screen have not been thrown around in the past but it would make sense considering the amount of energy the new phone should drain.

Ok personally I think this is annoying as hell because if you really do your research its been determined that 3g uses about the same amount of energy that edge does if not less. Apple could have included 3g in their first generation Iphones but instead they decided to make an edge version and now they are coming out iwth a better version to make more money. those bastards!

The hardware component for 3g consumed to much power. Now that the 3g has become smaller/requires less power and battery life has increased it is feasible to have a 3g iPhone. Besides speed there are no perks at the moment, until some rumors are confirmed. I also don't see an OLED screen happing. Right now there are to many variables, so unless this has been in testing for say 1 year, then OLED will still have unknown results and not be very marketable, at least on a touch screen phone. I wonder if apple will have some kind of replacement program where you could trade in your old iphone along with a relatively small fee and you'd get a 3g iPhone.

3g has nothing to do with calls... only data network usage... 3g on a&tt runs at about 900kb/s and edge runs at about 236 kb/s... and yes 3g does use more battery alot faster but i think it has to do with the amount of energy they're able to store into the batteries now, battery life in other words is getting better for the iphone...

as far as im concerned, one of those 10 million will NOT be seeing the inside of my pocket lol

is that 10 million over like 5 years or all in one order.... sounds a bit of a spun statement to me.

Plus by the time the iphone 2 gets here HTC's going to have some real rocking devices in the market and wm7 is due out before the final quater of this year, which will address the iphones interface from a windows mobile point of view.

2 be honest screw the iphone, what i want is htc to shrink its current Vista mobile phone, i want a full functional OS.

WM6 is as close as its got yet, the iphones technically able with its back end... not so much the front end.. but really a fully operating vista device would rock my world.....
