AT&T says NYC is now 'iPhone-ready"

AT&T says NYC is now 'iPhone-ready" AT&T has announced the completion of a year-long project to improve their wireless service in New York City, finally dubbing the populated city "iPhone-ready."
Over the years, the carrier has received a bad reputation for dropped calls, slow Internet and overall shoddy service in NYC, where there are the highest amount of iPhone owners outside of Los Angeles.

The carrier has now given more space on the airwaves for its 3G network in the boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens, which should lead to less dropped calls and faster data downloads.

AT&T started the project last year and says that service quality has improved over the last six months in the city.

The project was ongoing in NYC and San Francisco, with the California project still in progress.

Apple recently sold 1.7 million new iPhone 4 units this week, so AT&T will likely have a surge in bandwidth usage.

Way to go AT&T...3 years to the day of the iPhone release...and you are just now providing coverage in a city that is arguably the easiest and cheapest to develop (per customer, that is). At that rate, Montana should be iphone ready sometime around the year 2100.

Att is a joke. I switched from the iPhone to motorolla droid with Verizon. My iPhone wouldnot load webpages on safari or run Apps that required data connection. Neither would my wife's and others I know who had iPhones. Att kept trying to deny that they were aware of the problem in my area but ended up refunding $390 worth of data package fees. I ended up getting out of my contract free without early termination fees and sold both iPhones on eBay. Verizon's 3g coverage is the best in the united states. Any fool who would brag on att's network should first trying traveling and seeing how often they find a 3G coverage area. Droid is a better faster phone period.

It's not the phone!!!!! it's AT & T. I don't agree comparing android and Iphone in different carriers, AT&T sucks therefore ANY phone on that network will suck.
