Nokia exec takes shot at Android

Written by Andre Yoskowitz @ 21 Sep 2010 5:12 User comments (7)

Nokia exec takes shot at Android One of Nokia's top mobile phone division executives, Anssi Vanjoki, has taken a shot at Android today, just weeks before the exec leaves the company.
Vanjoki likened manufacturers who use Android to "Finnish boys who pee their pants for warmth in the winter," calling the OS sloppy.

Continuing on, the exec said Android would eventually hurt the branding of the manufacturers, as consumers will eventually begin purchasing phones for the mobile OS, not caring about the phone maker.

While Vanjoki may have some point to his rant, the fact of the matter remains that there are no Symbian^3 or MeeGo devices on the market, while there are plenty of Android devices now, with many of them being synonymous with their manufacturer, such as the Motorla Droid line, and the HTC Incredible.

Anssi Vanjoki is, for the time being, Nokia's executive vice president and general manager of mobile solutions.

I would underline: "just weeks before the exec leaves the company".

He's just angry Google managed to make it more sucessful with Android then they were to make it with Symbian. Nobody cares about Nokia or their N Series anymore and new CEO or not they are going to have a tough time redeeming their brand. Critisizing the competition is just in bad taste and strategy, might be why hes on his way out..

Yeah...that is true...and Nokia should be embracing this; it may only move them to "average", but that would be a huge improvement for Nokia.

This guy's an idiot was Nokia the same company pushing their sloppy symbian rubbish on to other manufacturers?

Did they think that would have also led to

They're sloppy for taking a global lead and letting it erode into nothingness honestly I'de soon switch from BB to Android or even iOS than that Meego crap they're touting

Well. Somebody's peeing their pants, and I don't think it's Motorola or HTC...
