Sony releases 12-minute hands-on video of the PS Vita

Sony has posted a 12-minute hands-on video today of the PS Vita, in an effort to boost interest in the handheld console before its launch in the U.S. and Europe this month.
The Vita runs on an ARM Cortex A9 quad-core processor, powered by a quad-core PowerVR SGX543MP4+ GPU. Featuring a 5-inch capacitive multitouch OLED screen (with 16 million colors), the device is 7.16 by 0.73 by 3.28 inches.

Furthermore, the console has 512MB RAM and 128MB VRAM in its graphics processor. The rear camera will be capable of 60fps and 640x480 resolution or 120fps at 320x240 resolution. Sony's Vita will playback MP3, AAC, WAV (Linear PCM) files and MPEG-4 video including H.264 AVC encodings in high, main, or baseline profiles.

The handheld is set for release in the NA and EU markets on February 22nd.

The closer it get the less I want it. Not because I don't think it will be a great system but because of the xmas syndrome. The closer Xmas got the less dramatic it is. Then xmas comes and now your gifts are all open and the day is done. I'll wait!

I'll wait until a price drop. It costs as much as a PS3 for gods sake. Yea, it's powerful and all but they still can't charge the same as a home system for it. Look at what happened to the 3DS.

show me a smart phone or tablet that has a quad core cpu & gpu for the price of Vita then tell me it is overpriced.

You could look at it this way. This year most Quad-cores tablets and phones will be sold higher than VITA. Next year they'll be about even for first gen quad's. The year after, there will be six-core or mixed GPU/CPU for tablets and phones.

All that time the VITA will stay the same...

Every time I see "PS Vita" my brain tells me PITA which automatically gets converted into "pain in the ass".

Sorry, I digress... ;)

Mysttic if we all thought like that we would never buy anything lol.

next year there will be 6core tablets & smart phones can not see that myself.

plus there higher priced than Vita now with lower specs but they will cost the same with higher specs not sure about that
