Star Wars: Episode VII to open December 18, 2015

The next instalment in the Star Wars franchise has been slated for a December 18, 2015 release as pre-production begins.
Shooting is scheduled to begin on the film in Spring, 2014 at Pinewood Studios.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams, who directed Super 8, Mission Impossible III and Star Trek. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) will work on the script.

Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk wil, produce with Tommy Harper (Star Trek: Into Darkness) and Jason McGatlin (War of the Worlds) serving as executive producers.

"We're very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture," said Alan Horn, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios.

They gotta bring in cameo appearances from Harrison ford, mark Hamill, and carrie fisher in this, no doubt, or it wouldn't be a star wars.
