BenQ introduces "thinnest ever" 24-inch monitor

BenQ introduces "thinnest ever" 24-inch monitor

At 0.9 inches at its thinnest, BenQ has introduced the V2400W, a 24 inch monitor inspired by the B-2 stealth bomber that "uses a new plastic injection technique that both curves the back of the display and makes it one of the thinnest of its kind."
The display is about 2.4 inches at its thickest point and includes a thin bezel and a touch-sensitive control panel. More importantly, the screen has a 4,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 2ms gray-to-gray (5ms normal) pixel response time.

As is standard, the display has DVI, VGA and HDMI inputs. There was no word on price but the company said it will only be available in North America with a spring release date.

why does it need to be that thin? The stand alone will take up more space.

Reminds me of the idiots who buy a flatscreen, then put the flatscreen on an entertainment center . . .

Ok...........6cm (1cm = 1/8 inch) so I highly doubt that your P.O.S. Westinghouse is that thin AT ITS THICKEST. Either way and doesn't matter.............WESTINGHOUSE IS CRAP!!! Poor, unreliable, and flat out garbage! I guess if one is poor and can't afford an extra 75 bucks for something that will last twice as long and provide twice the quality then it's alright. Take no offense to this as it's not directed at YOU personally. Westinghouse is just garbage and that is my expert view (not opinion).

Flat panels aren't solely meant for "wall hanging" you shmuck!! And by saying that you just called me, some friends and MANY MANY others in the world and idiot. Now you truly deserve a kick in the arse. Having flat panels on a table, wall cutout or ent. ctr. look great, save space and is practical...............more so compared to a wall hang with an articulating arm and rerouting electrical conduit behind the unit. You probably jacked yours up with cords hanging down below the tv looking like a company named "Fo brothas Instalashun"

918.3.2008 12:51

I'm wondering how hot it runs being that thin.

Wow..ur a big dumb***....1 inch is 2.5 cm so 1 cm is 2/5 of an inch so 6cm comes to 2.4 inches....so its not as thin, but who cares....just next time u decide to open ur stupid mouth and decide to insult people, know what you are talking about..and also maybe retake grade 1 math again...this is my "expert view (not opinion)"

Look Petah punkin eata..........GRAB A FRAKKIN ruler Canadian, eh! You being from there doesn't say much about you, your practicality or your state-of-mind and this is very apparent because you obviously havent looked at a ruler lately. 1cm = almost exactly 3/8. Your point is a little off and so is mine on the other direction. Both are plus/minus 5% margin of error but if you look at an actual ruler (that long skinny thing used to measure when you were a little girl in grade school) will show a Cm identical to 3/8. so Pipe down and argue something that actually makes a difference with a higher margin of error than 5%.

And Americans don't refer to it as the "Imperial system" so please............don't use that anymore.

You must be a French Canadian. Just as bad as the "Real French" themselves.

Hey where are u from? don'y worry we won't get into another argument, i promise

2919.3.2008 05:00

1 inch = 2.54cm

hence 1 cm = .40 inch

which = 2/5 of an inch

funni how ppl start being smart asses without even passing primary school maths

nice pics btw

r0b0t3ch, it's ok we all know that you are used to quoting things being a little bit larger than they actually are. It's messed up your perspective a little bit... Poor Man.

Has it worked for you yet?

On a positive note this is one of the most entertaining threads I have seen in long time. Nice work on the pics cyprusrom! I would say this thread even rates as entertaining as the hughjars vs. AfterDawn thread! Sadly it ended up in his passing away on AfterDawn. May he rest in peace... We will always remember him. We could always ask John Edward to communicate with hughjars so we can know what the next hugely successful format would be as he had such clarity in this department (that was NOT a punt at HD-DVD, I have nothing against that format... Woooo... Touchy subject!) :-P Ok... Way off topic now.

I wonder if this thread will result in the passing of another member. We can only wait to find out...

I vote for a gallagher vs. r0b0t3ch post off! PetahG, you're already into the final... The winner of these two Clowns gets you to deal with! Hahaha... This thread is way too funny. Place your bets....

Well, to be closer to exact,

1 inch = 2.54cm
therefore, 1cm = .393700787 inches

3/8 cm = .375 inches (.3937008 - .375 = .018)
2/5 cm = .4 inches (.4 - .3937008 = .0062992)

.0062992 is less of a difference that .018.

Therefore 2/5 is the closer approximation...whoever that argument belongs to. I can't even remember.

Actually, 3/8(15/40) < 2/5(16/40) , so he can't be "quoting things being a little bit larger than they actually are".Quoting smaller( modesty:~)!)
LOL!! I am from Europe. Moved to the States about 7 years ago. My initial thought about changing from the metric system to the measuring system used here in US- messed up!! This thread actually proves my first thought, we have here people arguing about a difference of 1/40 of an inch - can you even aproximate that with the naked eye?

Yes, 2/5 of an inch is a closer aproximation,on paper, but not the most practical one. I wanna see anyone reading exactly 2/5 of an inch using a ruler/tape measure:~)!
