Sorry Microsoft RT tablet owners, you are not getting Windows 10

Yesterday, Microsoft announced that Windows 10 would be a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users (including Windows Phone) but Windows RT was notably left out of the conversation.
Windows RT was the operating system used on older tablets that used ARM architectures.

When asked, Microsoft said that "We are working on an update for Surface, which will have some of the functionality of Windows 10. More information to come." There were 5 tablets released in 2012 with the operating system before it was basically discontinued.

What that limited functionality will be is unclear. Most likely, some of the newly announced Windows Universal Apps will be made available for RT.

Well.......to be perfectly honest, anyone that actually thought that RT would merit an upgrade is a total goof!

I have an RT....love it.........don't expect much from it other than what tablets do, which is surf web, check email, edit some docs and play a game or two.

so if windows phones are getting windows 10 dose that mean you no longer are limited to Microsoft store?

Confusing...Elsewhere (engadget) I read:

"During a Q&A session after the event, Myerson promised that Windows RT users would get an upgrade to 10 as well."

Spose we'll see what happens...

This would make me concerned...

Why you ask when you update the microsoft store to cover new releases i.e win 8.0 to win 8.1 if you didn't update a lot of apps won't install without 8.1 is the same going to happen with rt??

I won't touch RT with a ten foot stick >>

This reminds me of apple not making ti easier for newer apps that do not really require alot of power to run on older units with older un upgradable OS's....

It was an simplification of full Windows, so this is not surprising at all. At least now with certain Dell tablets you can get the full experience of Windows, though slower than a full-fledged tablet like Surface 3, but it a step in the right direction now..
