The Xbox One is not very consumer friendly, read the details here

Written by Andre Yoskowitz (Google+) @ 21 May 2013 23:21 User comments (92)

The Xbox One is not very consumer friendly, read the details here Today during a special event, Microsoft unveiled their hotly anticipated Xbox One console, set for release by the end of the year.
Rather than rehash what they unveiled, please read our earlier article here: Microsoft unveils Xbox One.

What Microsoft did not reveal, was how unfriendly the console will be to the average consumer.

So far, this is what we have learned about the Xbox One from multiple sources:

-The console is not backwards compatible, even for downloaded Xbox 360 games. This was not unexpected, but it still sucks for gamers who paid good money to build collections over the last 7 years.

-Installing games will be mandatory, but at least Microsoft says you can play while it installs. Once you place the disc in and install, you will never have to use the disc again.

-Used games, rented games and borrowed games from friends will not be playable unless you pay a fee to install from that disc. This will effectively kill the second-hand market unless you are willing to pay said "fee."

-The rumored always-on DRM was not as bad as expected, but developers can build games that require an always-on Internet connection at their own discretion, meaning the console will slowly but surely move to always-on.

-The Xbox One does not work without the Kinect 2 sensor. Period.

-The console's 500GB hard drive is non-replaceable.

This is what I was able to compile after today, which is an extreme amount of anti-consumer practices. We can only imagine there will be more to come.

I will not be buying one. I just now bought an xbox 360 and a ton of games I have downloaded. In my opinion they have got to be the dumbest people in the freakin world to pull this on its loyal fanbase. Im done and will not ever get another console if this is how it is going to be.

222.5.2013 0:10

The fine people at Steam said all my games will work on my next Pc and I will not be charged for reinstalling them, when I Upgrade my Pc later this year. :-)

I do not miss paying for Microsoft's Billboard game system. Microsoft must believe gamers cannot live without them.
You can buy a Pc around 500.00 that runs most title very well so why people are still buying consoles with more restrictive environments and more expensive games kind of defies logic.

So I guess they deserve whatever Microsoft does to them.
I believe that is the logic Microsoft is using to great success.

I think Microsoft has been having too many sleepovers at EA's house -- they're picking up some bad habits. I'll pass on this console.

422.5.2013 2:16

I'll be passing on this one also. The thing that irritates me the most aside from not being able to easily lend and borrow games is that your forced to use the kinect; too intrusive. I've had both previous versions of the xbox, but it looks like it will be a PS4 next time if I get a console at all.

522.5.2013 3:44

No. I will NOT buy an Xbox One. I'll take an PS4 instead.

622.5.2013 8:06

I'll just stick with my PC

Well hopefully you'll fair better with Windows 8...Or pay a premium for a PC that will run Windows 7...Here's a tip if you're willing and able to do some of the work yourself. Checkout cowboom.com I have had pretty good luck picking up late model used PCs on their auctions. Make sure you check the manufacturer's web site and verify they have Windows 7 drivers for the machine you want to bid on. Or maybe you'll like Windfows 8? I can't stand it. Seems like they take your high end pc and turn it into an awkward tablet...

this i find to be stupid microsofts response to the no backwards compatibility was they cannot get power pc code to run on the platform which is a crock because apple has power pc code running on intel with snow leopard

922.5.2013 11:16

None of this matters as long as the games are good and integration works like they showed.

90% of the people commenting would disagree with you. It is time the consumer teach Microsoft a lesson so they will cater to our desires or the flip side is we hope they fail...

I was looking forward to buying both the PS4 & Xbox 1 but now it looks like it will be straight PS4 for me.

I'm sure that Microsoft has the means to emulate the Power PC chip on the Xbox One. The problem might be successfully (or efficiently) emulating the graphics chip and other system components.

I think we have all become spoiled by the backwards compatibility that has been present in systems lately. Remember, we didn't start to see backwards compatibility until the PS2, GameCube and 360. If you really want to play your old games, just keep your old console. I do.

1322.5.2013 12:43

It's absolutely certain MS want you to pay the full price again for a second hand disc... yes???

This and not having to leave your disc in after install explains the daily verification process.

What xminus above says about Steam and backward compatibility is true but, face it, they have has the single owner thing down from the get go. MS look at Steam and think naturally that their punters will accept it too, and they probably might... eventually.

So they are packaging Kinect with the Xbox causing it's price to go higher.

So now I have to pay for it when I don't even want it?.

Yep. Kinect 2.0 is included. In fact it's required as you use Kinect to do things as simple as powering on the console. I've read that the new Kinect is greatly improved. It can see multiple people, at varying distances (even very close) and can work in near darkness due to it's use of the infrared light that it emits.

So far it seems the majority of responders have made up their mind that the Xbox One is not for them.

MS will have to do use some artistic persuasion to prove to their consumer base that there is even a shred of value in a box aimed at stealing $ out of you every which way imaginable. Given the fees on used games, must run XBL, must need internet, must repay for games on different user profiles: where is there value to be had?

The only way to get their attention is to have massive stocks of Xbox's left on the store shelves after Christmas. That would scare the shit out of Ballmer. They have no respect for their customers and we should just walk away. We all have multiple devices to use and play games with and are in no great urgent need to upgrade, just let the next xbox sit in the stores for six months and then we will be back in charge.
It's our money let them work for it and do as we tell them to!

2222.5.2013 17:59

Personally I would wait for official announcements & clarification rather than rely on this kind of reveal PR.
There's too much unsaid & what is said - usually by a 3rd party and not Microsoft - is often confused.

I don't find backward compatability a problem, I have a 360S, but I know some would love it.
Neither do I find mandatory game installs a problem as I always installed 360 games to hard drive to give the machine an easier time & chop the noise.

The used game thing is what I'm getting at about confused messages, we'll see.

Meanwhile as 1 UK journo said in one of our dailies, nobody is especially listening to the sort of people who write screens of criticism on the various forums & blogs.
They are (usually) a self-selecting group of critics untypical of the wider market & often with an agenda one way or the other.

My question is does it play vhs tapes, because I see tons of vhs players that just like it over at goodwill.

No backwards compatibility is a load of BS. They could easily get the 360 games running on x86 architecture. the 360 uses a PPC, Apple has been able to to run their PPC software on Intel chips for a while now(majority of the programs work)(I am not a apple fan)

If it does run X86, I hope some one hacks it easily and figures out a way to disable the stupid drm and allow people to play rented/ borrowed games and enable 360 support.

For $350 I built a AMD A10 5800K Powered HTPC with 8GB Ram and a BluRay drive that is my BluRay player and my MediaCenter/WebMedia PC. For $300 I was going to add a very decent gaming graphics card and with that it will be more than powerful to run most games at 1080P and 60+FPS. I may also have to upgrade the hard drive but I already have my steam account on there and it even plays the few games I have pretty good with the integrated graphics. Then if I want to upgrade in a few years all my games will still work on my next box.

Screw these new consoles from Microsoft and Sony eliminating the game libraries of their customers unless they have both consoles from them. Then the stupid fees and required install requirements is pure BS.

With the processor architecture change it would need emulation to play 360 games and emulation is very CPU (NOT GPU) intensive and since the AMD Jaguar based processor in the XBOX One and PS4 is basically an Intel Atom class processor it is very weak despite having 8 cores. These new consoles are GPU centered in terms of gaming performance.

Also many PPC Mac programs were broken with the switch to x86 and the creators of those programs had to patch or update their programs to work if the worked at all. No emulation was being done at the MacOS level that I am aware of which left many older software titles in the dust.

Maybe someone will find a way to make these games playable on a PC but I am sure the encryption would make that difficult. It seems the games are not playable off the disc and only activate once the install to the XBOX One has started.

I fear if all of this is true XBOX just alienated most of the gaming community and will piss many people off that buy one based on the XBOX name alone and find out all the restrictions.

Stop making sense Interestix! (Heh.) No-one here cares! :)

They want to be outraged about backward compatibility (the same ranting we saw a few years ago) when they knew that would happen and it will be the same for the PS4!

We don't know if the same daily verification process won't be adopted by Sony for sure. (It's not the same as always-online after all.) I hope it's not but as you noted these details are not official.

Are the BBC given to speculation? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22623010

I agree that it's great to install the game to HDD but in this case the verification is done online not by the install disc. So the aim is to kill the 2nd hand market and street game retailers altogether. This is indisputable, we've seen the trend with the current consoles. They are only doing the disc thing out of consumer sentimentality for a hard copy. Discs are being phased out altogether and the developers will happily jump on board eventually. They already love Steam. According to that BBC link, MS have plans (which they will dump for the next generation imo) that you can "sell" your ownership of a game to get a discount on, Zeus knows what really, presumably new games.

We're good sheep... we just need a bit of coaxing and we'll fall into line. :P

Thank you sir. The sky isn't falling until they make these speculations official with the release. Nothing is concrete until launch. I for one cannot wait until E3 for some real news we can use to start making our decisions on which console to buy or weather to buy at all. Less than 3 weeks!

A 500gb non changable hard drive on a system that may be filled with crap basic tv shows if allowed to be used as a dvr and or filled with games that install from blu ray discs that are about 25 to 50gb each on a hdd that again wont be upgradable? In this day and age when I can go out and buy 2tb for eighty bucks rather than buy another console just for storage of already price inflated games. F.U.

500 GB is meh I agree... about $40AUS OEM... but they have stated that you can add a USB3 external drive with full functionality. Therefore, stick all your crap TV shows etc. on that and keep the faster internal HDD for gaming. Even use the external to store games and transfer them over for gaming off the internal.

I don't know if you've used a USB3 external HDD but they're pretty quick.

I'm not advocating an Xbox One, just saying the HDD business is, whilst not great, hardly a deal breaker, not really.

PS: You can buy a 2TB 2.5" internal laptop HDD for $80 in the US?!? ... death to America! :P

PPS: No wait! I've checked US Newegg all they have is horrible WD Green 2.5" 2TB drives for $180. Suppose you can always get an external 2.5" 2TB for about $150, bust it open and format that as an internal if you don't mind blowing your warranty. Looking at the brands I wouldn't suggest it. OK ... NOT death to America then. :)

I suspect a lot of what people are getting annoyed about (or claiming to be annoyed about) will turn out to either not be true or quietly dropped when it becomes clear it's not going to fly with the punters).

Or it may be that behind the scenes Sony, Microsoft and the bigger gaming companies (and Ninetendo?) have quietly agreed to introduce this new licencing idea.
We'll see soon enough....and I expect it'll become obvious whether it'll stick or not soon enough too.

We might also see emulation appear - or the Sony trick of putting an HD & warmed-over version of an old game up for download (at a cost, hopefully small).

I like the USB 3 connections & if the comment (that you can hook up any hard drive & get full functionality out of it - especially game saves etc) turns out to be true that that would be a step forward & make the 500gb drive a lot more useful.
I must admit I always went for the biggest 360 drive I could get and with an external for music, films & pics even 250gb was hardly a problem.
Networking made it all a bit irrelevant anyway - the PS3 slim was exactly the same for me, I stuck a 1tb drive in it & can't say as I make full use of it either.

Still, the original 360 launched with only 20gbs & ended up with 320gb.
It seems perfectly reasonable that in a fairly short space of time we'll see bigger drives in the Xbox one if that's really concerning some.

Another fair & balanced (not) Oner anti-Microsoft/anti-Xbox comment.

I wonder where your similar comments are regarding Sony when it comes to their track record of telling their paying customers with broken PS3's to either pay ridiculously expensive repair fees or to just get lost?

At least Microsoft brought in a much better 3yrs warranty (covering several although admittedly not every & all issues).

Shame no-one else followed this lead & it it didn't become an industry standard.
Thankfully in the EU we have a 2yr warrantly on all CE products (and further under UK law, up to 6yrs in some cases).

Rather than just bash Microsoft people ought to be pressing all the manufacturers to introduce decent warranties.

The original Xbox 360 may well have been bad but YLOD proves a lot of PS3 owners have been having (expensive) problems too.

Zippy...what's so awful about the 360, especially the 360S?

It has more b/c than any console, it doesn't actually have 'Windows 8' just a dashboard that looks like it.

(having said that I know a lot of people who like Win 8, it's very fast & with the 'Start 8' most of the issues people whine about re the 'Metro' layout vanish, plus it is the latest & most secure Windows)

I think you're in the minority there.
XP & Win 7 have, in my opinion, been great.
Even Vista was perfectly good after SP1.
Vast compatibility with so much without hassle right out of the box, there just isn't an OS out there that matches them.

Oh god the 360 was a nightmare the first 3ish years and no BWC meant more unplugging and replugging in of stuff.

360s still dose not run my Xbox games.

And you forget windose Vister(sorry even with sp1 it sucks it should never take that long to fix something that should be fixed to start with), and "cement" :P

CE was an experiment they drooped as soon as they could, ME was a joke and well NT was okay for business sucked for everything else.

XP and win7 is good win 8 not so much so 3 for 3 and most of it beta testing on the masses is not a good thing. And lets not forget the 360 hardware fail rate is still nearly 30% (pre jasper I think). At best the YLOD is 5% blu ray drive issues making up another 2-5% keeping over all fail rate under 11%.

I build my own box every time I upgrade. I am not using Windows 8 ever, I will build around windows 7 or maybe Linux. I just read an article about getting 90 percent of Steam games to run in Linux. Might see if that really works before I upgrade.

Microsoft obviously does not need customers anymore, they want followers that will say anything they do is okay. It is not me bye Xbox bye Windows 8, that was really easy.

I currently have (4) Xbox360 and use to have (1) PS3. I decided not to purchase the new Xbox ONE at all and just purchase (2-3) PS4 consoles for the following reasons:

1) The design of the new Xbox ONE is very ugly and bulky; not to mention the depth of the Kinect sensor is to big too. I know it's a Xbox, but do you really need to make it look like an actual box, the design of it looks more like a cable box or satellite dish box. I think they are putting too much thought into this. I mean how hard is to hit the source button to go back and forth between TV and video game. You can also use PIP, majority of good HDTV offer this, sh*t even old Tube TVs offer this.

2) Adding restrictions of playing your games on a friends console. I like going to my friends house and bringing my games along with me to play there too or borrowing games.

3) Forcing us to install the game on a 500 hard drive will get full real fast because I'm sure the games will be on Blu-Ray.

I was really looking forward to getting the new Xbox ONE, but they are acting like a Nazi regime and I wont follow. I guess I will be playing my PlayStation more often... plus I can play online for free with the PS too!!!!!

P.S. the reason for multiple same consoles is because I have it for upstairs and downstairs and my wife plays on the consoles too.

Beats me why people take such strong opinions one way or the other.
We still have to wait & see the details of the Xbox One, old leaks & rumours are no substitute for facts.

...and as for the Microsoft v Sony nonsense it seems to have escaped some people's attention that they are both just capitalist corporations trying to maximise profits.
They are nobody's friend.
Both have, at times, treated customers badly and both have, at times, pulled cr@ppy strokes as businesses.

...and some of us need software that works with almost everything right out of the box and do not have the time or inclination to get that involved with alternate OS softwares.

I'm not bashing you taking the view you have (although I do find a lot of the anti Win 8 stuff interesting now I know some people with it who find it to be a 'light' & fast OS, I wonder if this is like Vista & people who have never used it pile into bash?) but you can't deny that - especially for the mass home market - Windows remains number 1 there for some very good reasons?

What xminus above says about Steam and backward compatibility is true but, face it, they have has the single owner thing down from the get go. MS look at Steam and think naturally that their punters will accept it too, and they probably might... eventually.

Well, I took it to be "a fee", which is not necessarily the same as "full price" of course, but the fact that they're double-dipping on games which may or may not be of dubious quality is the final straw for me. I had hoped that they would've included backward-compatibility as well, but after $ony pissed me off the last time with their rhetoric before the Piece of Shit 3's release I have to say I'm finished with consoles until such time that the powers that be stop being the money-grubbing bastards that they are (read as never) and listen to what their fans want. I have plenty of games here to play, so I'll be quite content for some time to come...

Kinect and its camera will always be on in your living room, watching you. Pair that up with a voice-activated system, and you're looking at an embarrassing situation waiting to happen.

Damn right: embarrassing for anyone on the other end watching me jerk off to my own system. After all if MS wants to watch us, we may as well show them EVERYTHING.

You do realise that the only way for this to be credible is if Microsoft (or the Gov or the UN or who or whatever else inhabits your over-active imagination) have zillions of people who do nothing but watch other people.

I think this is all just a tad overdone.

There are too many of 'us' to 'them', relax.

I was actually thinking of accidentally broadcasting something embarrassing to your friends/family/acquaintances - not Microsoft or the Government. So it really seems like YOU are the one with the "over-active imagination".

Actually it will have facial recognition and scan the room for you and people and could add that to their database and be mostly automated. The days where you need a physical person to sit and watch are long gone. It can gather and compute data on it's own. I do not like the information being said how it will see how many people are in your room watching a show and if you have too many it could report you or bill you for licensing costs. No actual people watching you live is necessary.

Riiiight.
So you think it's reasonable to bash Xbox One because a user might leave the cam/mic set-up going?
Like someone leving their web-cam on accidentally?

If you're implying that it would be difficult to know if it's off then I suggest your really reaching for things to knock it for.
Do you bash web-cams & PCs for the same reason?

Anyone who seriously imagines this likely can always, oh I don't know....unplug it when they're not actually using it (it's better for the environment & your energy bills).

...or, if you can't be bother but care that much, just put a bit of cloth over the camera lens?

Why do you feel it necessary to defend the Xbox One? We brought up legitimate concerns that many others have already discussed.

Instead of having to unplug it or put a cloth over the camera lens, why doesn't Microsoft just include an off switch? They don't because they want the camera and microphone on 24/7, ready and waiting for audio and visual commands.

Actually I'm not, more often than not I'm simply saying people are taking incredibly (laughably?) strong positions on the basis of old leak, rumour & conjecture.

Plus I'm just bored s**tless reading the same old same old when it comes to any Microsoft product (& more often than not when others do the exact same thing it gets excused without comment).

Originally posted by bdaleypsu:

Good question...and one that ought to be being asked of the whole CE industry.
Why have 'standby' instead of off & a little battery?

Originally posted by bdaleypsu:

Possibly but I doubt it.
That's just your invented narrative - and if that is the case I'd bet the house Microsoft can't 'spy' on you - or anyone else - accidentally or otherwise look in on you anymore than someone can if you leave your webcam on.

But if you do leave it all on accidentally how is this any worse than webcams?

It seems far more reasonable to me to expect the 'off' button will be software to chop the connection (regardless of what the unit is doing in your home awaiting your commands), it'll be some sort of toggle button you push on a page or something automatic when you leave a game or part of the dashboard.
So if you do leave it on with a live connection the fault will be yours & you leaving an open live connection, nothing to do with Microsoft.
Just as it is if you leave a webcam connection open accidentally.

I'm simply happy to await the details of the facts & avoid the silly conjecture.

But you seem to know all about it, in your mind at least.

Again, my main concern is not Microsoft (or the Government) spying on an Xbox One owner - even though that is a possibility. My concern is that the product can launch programs, take actions, etc. based on visual and audio commands. That's what makes it worse than leaving a webcam on.

5725.5.2013 22:08

What with windows 8 and now this it seems Microsfots days at number 1 (pun intended) are numbered -literally...

I only needed to hear this so I am going for a PS4 now much more user friendly.

OK but the flip side of that is that some of us are very interested in gesture & voice control - and might just be able to operate it without having to cry about it if we accidentally leave it on.
Just like we do with webcams.

If you don't operate it properly (assuming the control system is not too complex & difficult...yeah, I know I know that's quite a huge leap, I mean it's only a CE product aimed at a hugely varying age range) then it's your fault if you leave it on/open.

Just like it is with webcams.

Yes I know PC sales are down at the moment (it happens periodically) but Win 8 has sold as well as Win 7 at this stage.

Plus they are said to be addressing the things people complain about the most in the coming update.

Yeah, cos you know all about exactly where it stands with always on and used games...er, no you don't, you can't, they haven't spelt it all out in detail yet.

Just like people think they know all about Xbox One on these matters on the basis of old leaks & patchy or no info.

Yep, it will even respond to your hand movements. Offer up unsolicited pornography based on your "tastes":

"I noticed you like Grand Theft Auto Mysttic... would you like a strip tease or a virtual lap dance?"

I'll bet strict privacy laws are in place regarding automatic monitoring in private, and I'll bet the system in standby is really only geared to respond to you yelling "XBOX ON" in a voice like captain Kirk.

Remember Apple got into trouble tracking it's iPhony users whereabouts.

Of course the secret gov agencies will be able to circumvent the laws with a warrant naturally. It remains to be seen just how much it could do in standby mode. Perhaps it can record a rat boy stealing itself... thought about that? :)

Its a lot easier being righteous than right.

Microsoft care absolutely nothing for their customers otherwise Windows 8 and Vista would not have been rushed out without a full test regime and customer feedback analysis - Which they obviously dont do!!! So its ok to release a bollox O.S. then tack on a service pack to fix it - really? Not how I was taught to design , test, write and release systems code dude!

The original Xbox 360 may well have been bad but YLOD proves a lot of PS3 owners have been having (expensive) problems too.

gotta agree with this, while i would never say that a decent amount of ps3 systems are undoubtedly dead now, its a 7 year old system after all. But there is a huge diff between the 360 FORCING MS to extend the warranty on such faulty hardware and hardware thats dying of age/use.
I dont see how people can make this comparison, we shouldnt be "pressing all the manufacturers to introduce decent warranties" we should be pressing them to make a quality product in the first place.

My personal favourite anti sony/blu ray poster of all time has to be hughjars, shame he got banned all those years ago, would be hilarious to see his views on why his beloved hd dvd isnt with us anymore and his justification for why Sony/ps3 havent crashed and burned.

At least Oner is giving aviewpoint and something to digest.

If you have nothing constructive to say and have nothing to add to the discussion I suggest you take your unhelpful rather tawdry efforts at being a troll to another forum...

I dunno MS is a train wreck of questionable consumer related disasters, on the other hand when they had to they made up for it. They did do a rather descent job over the overheating fiasco. But on the other hand they refurbed the hell out of bad units which should have been destroyed... ME,Vista,8 were/are a joke .XP, 7 and NT were good. So they get around to releasing good products. Looking at Sony its as much of a mess how many of their products suck while they put some effort into their game consoles they fcked up the PS3 and now trying to forget it existed with the PS4...I dunno neither seem that great....

TL:DR: They both suck and toss Nintendo in with them......

Makes no difference to me pal.

Staff member or not (i presume from your rather cryptic reply that he or she is probably the guy running the show?) i cant be bothered with one person slagging another off its what destroyed the Scifi forum and Futurenoir forums which i was very fond of.

Why cant folks just get along without getting pissed off because someone doesnt agree with them is beyond me - so juvenile.

What a load of tosh either buy one or don't (as we say here in the UK) simples.....

Sales of almost everything are down almost everywhere in our current managed depression...or is that Win 8's fault as well?

Then there's new tech (like tablets you mentioned....which would seem to be relevant in the case in Win 8 & it's ultimate intentions?).
Which also happens periodically.
Laptops did similar to PCs at one stage.

Bound to happen.
Still waiting to hear how it's so different from webcams tho - especially as you have no idea about the controls etc.

Actually it was your comment that Microsoft "have no respect for their customers" that struck me as particularly silly & slanted.

Given the general tone I have to ask, just Microsoft, huh?

No it's just tedious reading the same old same old & it's little help when a mod joins in encouraging it.

I don't.
It was a moments comment in a commentary page, hardly deep bothering.

from where I sit it sure as hell looks like you are a plant for MS with all the excuses you lay out in TOTAL support of EVERYTHING Microsoft has done without nary a peep against their BS!
No. Don't be silly.

But when all the bashing is almost without fail 100% in one direction it seems to me very biased - and I might add often extremely disrespectful of those of us (which is the majority as far as PC OSs go, I'll bet) who are Microsoft customers.
But you don't seem to mind that sort of name-calling for some reason.

The joke here is if the comment was 100% anti Sony or Nintendo I'd feel the same the other way (for some reason Sony rarely gets any criticism but I'll sometimes pop in to put what I think is a fairer view on some of the Nintendo criticism).

...and yet all I have seen are Xbox guys saying they await more info and are interested/excited about it.

I can honestly say I've never seen any (people I've known for a while & know to be genuine Xbox owners rather than suddenly claiming to be & claiming to be so incredibly outraged) so far claiming to so negative about it.

I'd say it's also true that they got a lot more than the recent PS4 reveal in terms of the actual console.

E3 will show more for both....and it'll still be long before either is released.
We'll find out more details soon enough.

I think wehat everyone is getting all heated up about is the invasion of privacy and microsoft sony et al trying to screw every last penny from every product from stuff that was originally free or perceived (like the internet) to be free for all.

That is the gist of it.

Its all about greed and nothing else - or as the liberal wankpots would say "its all about commercialism , capitalism , cosmopolitan" - ballacks!

If the consumers say f*** off we arent buying your product because... then the companies might learn a lesson (as they did with Vista , windows 8 it seems and a few other) but as is the want of the human condition these days its all about me me me - the common goal is no longer in sight! So the shaft is all you will ever get! So suck it up as the Americans would say!

The day you're ready to mobilise for the revolution & man the barricades just let me know.

:)

Already am!

I've decided not to buy an xbox , ps3 or any other kind of gaming console - its the gaming console (oh and paedo rapists) that has stopped kids going out to play like i used to - the streets here are empty at the weekend where in my day we were all out climbing trees , throwing stones at each other and playing kick the can etc - ie keeping fit - no wonder kids these days are all fat wee potatoes with as much intelligence as a spud - is it any ownder the Chinese etc are about 100 times more intelligent and all of the world sees the UK as a haven for terrorists , drunken unintelligent yoof and a bygone era of invincibility - we cant even run the BBC properly anymore!

I also have a good stock of weapons for the coming zombie apocalypse...

Ail hail Omen - Leader of the revolution!!!
Are you with me!
No more xbox or evil ps3 - lots of days out at the gym , football in the park, swimming , cycling and out on the pull...what ya say!

Interestx ~ We have done this far too many times so I will just skip over explaining some of the things you said in your reply and just clarify something you seem to have had wrong for years about me and aD. I am a regular person, and just like you I do not have to conform to being "fair & balanced". The truth is aD has NEVER restricted me in my opinions, knowledge or facts that I have shared over the past decade (damn has it been that long already!?).

I have always called it how I see it, and if something is of importance then I point it out. If that happens to differ from someones opinion (over the facts I have laid out), then that's on them. But usually what ends up happening is there's a moment (or a few) when a person (or persons) directs insults towards me, and that's when it's not about the topic. It has become something personal ~ and I believe it's usually because that person can't dispute or disprove the facts I provided, have gotten frustrated, and have nowhere else to go to save face but to attack me personally instead of the information I have offered (of which I have to add is 99% of the time supported with links for confirmation/corroboration so its not just "opinion" but based in actual fact that is known to all the public at that time).

Now I can easily say ~ Yes, I prefer PlayStation products over Xbox 360 products. But the key term there is "Xbox 360". I have had better experience, reliability and fun with my original Xbox (that still works mind you) than with my 360...and it just so happens I can say the same (or even more so) about my PlayStation, Nintendo & even Sega consoles (to name just a few). So with that said, I do agree with your comment of how "E3 will show more for both....<and that> We'll find out more details soon enough". But honestly, from what's known so far at this point it's really interesting as to what's in store, but it's almost just as concerning (if not more) as to how MS is going to come back from this and straighten out all this confusion ~ that remember they themselves started.
