I always loved VLC and will probably get an earlier version but with this version I am having playback issues. All the files are avi format but some play with no issues and some will start pixelating and having sluggishness in the middle. But when I play it on Windows media there is no issues. So I will just get a earlier version.

I have used this media player software off an on over the years with mixed results. But overall it has been a great player for all video and audio formats particularly rare formats with rare codecs. This particular VLC player version is EXCELLENT! Its easier to use, it played every format I threw at it and the overall quality is better. I can say VLC v0.9.2 is the best release yet of this very versatile software. Up until now I prefeered to use PowerDVD, Windows Media Player, DivX Player and VLC Player to player different video formats. As I am so impressed with the quality of the latest VLC Player v0.9.2 it has become my default all in one media player for Video and DVD. Download and try it... you won't be disappointed. You can easily uninstall it if you don't like it.

What an absolute pile of sht!! It USED 2 have some promise, with the nifty tweakability - but of course, it was not an option as it couldn't even play MP3 files without skipping! Y the fuk do retards even release software that can't play MP3 out of the box?!?! Reminds me of KMPlayer, where half the settings tools don't even function (they're just trying 2 conceal they have rolled FFDSHOW into submenus). N E way, they have now succeeded into making VLC's EQ section utterly clunky & useless - much WORSE than before. It's not 2 say the player doesn't work. It's just 2 say it's utter GARBAGE compared 2 MPC or MPC-HC + FFDSHOW, or GOM. There are only 2 useful media player programs in the world - MPC, & GOM. Everything else is GARBAGE! (like this VLC junk) so believe me, don't waste your time. I've tried them all. Ideally somebody should roll a tab interface into GOM & MPC so instead of having 'docking' junk, just displays pages like a Firefox browser or whatever, such as 'EQ', 'Video' (& sub-tabs), etc :) That would B awesome!

A decent app, but no blu-ray support. For that we have to use the abominable powerdvd bloatware. Media Player Classic will play some blu-ray streams..but not the whole disc the way powerdvd does.

great Software For those that need media player that works. its bit by bit Reading means that even files that are partialy complete will work. Due to the bit by bit reading of media files it may cause Subtitle overlay issue's, it has advance feature's in the option's that most people dont know what they do. does tend to Color Scramble on older hardware with Certain Files. All in All an Excellent Player. It deserves At least a 4/5.

I started to download some files with .flv and I could not open them with my regular player so I had to go in search of a program that was acceptable. Good thing my search lead me to afterdawn.com and I found this program VLC. It works great!! Install in a minute and I was able to open all my files with it. No Problems so far..

The Net is full of different formats in audio and video. In audio, which is I deal with, there is some normal formats like mp3, ogg, flac, etc. etc. and some more sophisticated like 5.1 dts or dolby. VLC handles all of them without need of codecs, which are all embedded in the program. If it is needed a solid player VLC is the tool, if is beauty of design or a analytic tool VLC won't be the right player. Anyway is a tool that cant be missed if you are an audiophile.

Although its very handly with the fact it can play almost any multimedia file in almost any format, I particulary don't like it. It has a very poor handling of decoding some videos, which results in wierd video output. It renders subtitles poorly that of which it may overlap another subtitle text, may have un and does not support typesetting. The UI (user interface) is not very friendly, espcially the slider which does not effectively time-shift, unless you change skins. Otherwise, for people who are not entirely concerned about these faults, who don't have time searching for codecs, decoders, players, etc, or people who just want things simplistic, this is the player for you.

As said, an excellent video streaming application, that can play a huge vairety of files. I used to have codec packs and they could be an annyoance but VLC is superb.

Plays ALL of my ogg and avi files without a problem. Freedom for codecs means you can play any raw video file even with dual audio and video tracks. I still use Winamp for my music though. I like to get cool skins and VLC lacks in that department.

The Rating is actually - for me - 4 to 5. I travel a lot and I have my Notebook as a tool with me. More then 7 or 8 times a week, you come accross at a customer or a friend, with a DVD or similar, home made or commercial. Up to now, I had never the case, that VLC 0.8.5 refused to play any ov the disks. THE IDEAL PLAYER in your Notebook.

Woohoo! Service discovery is back! (That's mainly what I really use it for, because I don't like playing with my winamp playlist very often... I still don't.) This is a really feature-rich player, if only there was a bit more support on the skin side of things... I have found and also have made my own skins for bsplayer that I like, so I use that more often. BSPlayer's relative lower system requirements compared to most other players is also a plus, but I'm not inclined to pay for it when there's something so wonderful as VLC player to do whatever the free one can't do. It's independency on other codecs makes it easier to find out if you have a codec problem or not and which codecs may be the culprits. VLC is also better at playing "corrupted" files than I have ever seen in any other player. I'm sure there's a few other things I haven't mentioned, but that's a good start.

VLC has to be one of the better video players out there which can handle any format and has really good subtitle support... This is my default player for all my vids and even my music collection :) nice one peeps...
