DivXNetworks, developers of the popular DivX MPEG-4 ASP codec, have announced a closed beta test for a new MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) decoder. The DivX H.264 decoder, given the codename of "Project Rémoulade," is intended to compete with CoreAVC, a popular and low cost AVC encoder from CoreCodec, as well as the free ffdshow decoder.
the DivX H.264 decoder can play video encoded with the High 10 and High 4:2:2 profiles, which have yet to be included in any version of CoreAVC to be released. The CoreAVC website indicates those profiles will be supported in the upcoming CoreAVC Enterprise Edition.
Entry into the beta program is limited to DivX Lab members. More details on both the decoder and beta test are available on the Project Rémoulade homepage
