LG: Our tablet is better than the iPad

LG has taken a direct shot at Apple's popular iPad tablet today, making headlines with the bold statement.
"Our tablet will be better than the iPad," said Chang Ma, LG's vice president of marketing for its mobile-devices division.

Ma did note that the iPad is a very nice device, but concluded that Apple locked it down, not allowing consumers to "do much work on it."

Dubbed the Optimus, LG plans to release their Android tablet by the end of the year.

There are little other details known about the device.

Furthermore, Ma says the company wants to take on the iPhone, as well. In the smartphone market, "the race hasn't started yet."

to be fair its not going to take much to beat the ipad and any other apple device for that matter

in my opinion tablets and devices are not going to beat ipad/ipod touch until one becomes more gaming oriented since games apply to lots of people

and android devices generally don't have great battery life either so they have to improve that first

Yeah I know what you mean. I know that the android has a special taskmanager that manages the task and kills some or what not but the fact remain some task are still running even when not in use and there are also some programs that continue to run in the battery that eats up battery life. I think they should have something so you can completely close out an app.

this is tough talk from someone that totally dropped the ball on the whole smartphone thing. LG is two years behind on smartphones and tablets so don't expect "Optimus" to be "Prime".

all of these companies keep saying they are coming out with the killer tablets but where the hell are they? i think they just like to keep blowing smoke up our asses

LG is years behind the pack, so they need an easy target. Making an android device that is better than an Apple device is a nice, easy thing for them to do...next they can work on making an android device that is better than the other android devices; a much more difficult task...as it appears that just about every electronics company will be releasing an AndroidPad at about the same time.

LOL...enjoy your flash videos. I'm sure going to a website only to see, "Sorry, your device is not supported" is a great internet experience. I'm down to Hulu and a couple other sites that block Android for some unknown reason.

The way I see it is that the I devices are for non tech savvy peeps (such as the wife), and there are plenty of them. I myself have a android and have the freedom to do what I want :D

Sorry for not clarifying.

I just meant the websurfing part of it and the format that web pages take on the IPhone. Didn't know about the Flash part. Yet another reason why I will pass on IPhones.
