Verizon now has 32 percent of iPhone 4 owners

Verizon now has 32 percent of iPhone 4 owners According to mobile analytics firm Localytics, Verizon has slowly but surely taken a 32 percent share of the iPhone 4 market.
Apple, following 4 years of exclusivity with AT&T, launched the Verizon iPhone 4 in February.

Daniel Ruby of Localytics says the figure comes from analyzing which version of the iPhone downloaded the 1500 mobile applications the firm uses its software to monitor. A few of the more notable apps the firm monitors are for clients Skype, News Corp. and Turner, each with heavy traffic.

Interestingly, in its first week of availability the number jumped to 20 percent share. That number had hit 25 percent by April and 29 percent last month.

The company believes that with a level playing field (the rumored September iPhone 5 launch), Verizon will have a number closer to 40 percent share right from the get-go.

So quite a lot of people would rather have a network that doesn't drop calls than be able to talk and be online simultaneously, I guess.

Maybe the existing customers from att dont need to download these apps anymore. Wrong figures for sure.

I'm on Tmobile and almost NEVER get dropped calls. Those days are over. Verizon only excels in its ability to grant stronger service in weaker hickville hillbilly areas.

As for the numbers of Verizon IPhone owners constituting 32% of the IPhone ownership market.........PHOOOOEY!

No way no how. This number is bloated. Maybe in a couple more years from now but not yet.

You people that believe this are just gullible and will believe anything told to you.

Propagators!!

Well the article states that its iphone 4 owners...this year technically the verizon iphone was a new iphone so people flocked to it and purchased it..and that was also around the time when the white iphone came out 2. So this article isn't unbelievable cuz its just one phone. ATT still has all the iphone 3G, 3GS, i4's, and even the iphone 2G's on their side. Plus with verizon ending its unlimited plans people were coerced into getting the outdated iphone 4.

You have to take into account their are a number of people whose contracts where coming up and decided to change carriers from ATT to Verizon. I was actually told by a Verizon employee while at my local store that all the doctors who worked in one of our local clinics had come and switched from ATT iphone to Verizon just bc they couldnot get reception in their place of work while with ATT. I work with countless people who comlpain about not haveing 3G coverage when they leave outside of the city and they are trying as we speak to get out of their contracts with ATT.
