Zuckerberg kills rumor of Facebook phone?

Zuckerberg kills rumor of Facebook phone? During his company's first public earnings conference call, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg killed the rumor that the social network is building a smartphone.
However, Zuckerberg may have left the door slight ajar, as he did not deny that any third-party OEM may be building one.

Over the past few month, major news outlets have reported on a Facebook-branded phone coming within months. Most cited HTC as the OEM, and pointed to early 2013 for launch.

Zuckerberg had this to say of the rumors, however: "There are lots of things that you can build in other operating systems as well that aren't really building out a whole phone, which I think really wouldn't make much sense for us to do. We want to support a development ecosystem where other apps can build on top of Facebook."

The company will move forward with supporting developers to create applications built around Facebook.

Facebook's stock fell heavily after the earnings report, and is now at $24 per share, down almost 50 percent from its peak on IPO day.

Oh... what happened, Zuckerburg got the party broad home & right as he was trousers down, halfway in on that home run slide his beer goggles wore off?

His whole 'ecosystem built on FB' blathering sounds like he was hungover & trying to forget he somehow was the wingman 'taking a bullet for the team'.

They all seem to be big boys over now, why don't they just nut up & say it... They've lost their ass in going public with the stocks idea & the FB phone idea is shite in hindsight. We're all adults, I don't think we'll see this has having a smaller johnson at the urinal.

Now quit selling our souls to advertising vendors at every given moment of our lives & think of a another inventive way of getting us back onto your site as what originally brought us there... morons...

There is already a facebook phone it was made by/for 3 came out in the UK and Australia don't know if it came out in the US as they don't have a 3 as a network provider.

That phone came out around 2005, this phone idea is really really old, besides already done.

3 isnt a phone maker they are a network provider.I live in australia and i havnt seen a facebook phone advertised but i have seen lots of phones can access facebook.can you provide a link as to where this facebook phone is???

we didnt have facebook in 2005 so a facebook phone coming out in 2005 wouldnt make sense unless they have re released an old phone marketed as a facebook phone.
